Green = Spring!

Good Morning and Happy Sunday everyone!

Things are actually starting to green up around here and my neighbor's  forsythia is ready to bloom.  I am ready, too!  For me, spring means green, and lucky for me, it is my favorite color.  I decided I was in need of something green for my Z Becky Brown purse.
Over at SCS, the featured stamper today is jkanack, and I found a little something green to inspire me.

I used a Crafter's Workshop stencil and various sprays and sponged inks to create my design.  There is one stamp used, and that is the Stampin' Up Woodgrain background stamp (love that thing!) to give a bit of texture to the overall purse liner.
To make, sponge color over a couple of different leaf images to all sides of the liner.  Stamp Woodgrain Background image to entire liner.  Spritz on different shades of green inks/coloring mediums.  Outline leaves with Micron black pen.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have an absolutely glorious Sunday!

Die~Namites Bird Houses

Hello Everyone!

There are so many great new spring dies  at Die~Namites; I am up on the Die~Namites blog today and it was hard for me to decide which new die to use.  I settled on this wonderfully springy and whimsical  Fancy Birdhouses Die~Namites Die; I paired it with a brand new sentiment stamp of mine that makes a perfect house warming card!

Flowers were added to the tree branch, using the Spring Blossoms Die~Namites Die.  I added more whimsy to the card by using felt for my flowers and leaves.

I made a few of the flowers a darker yellow by pressing them into my yellow stamp pad.

To make the birdhouses, I selected several patterned papers that I thought went well together.  I cut the houses out in the variety of papers, then pieced the different patterns together.

Each house is layered onto a  cardstock base a couple of layers of cs thick.  This not only gives a solid base to adhere pieces to (so none of my little pieces fall out), but also adds a bit of dimension to the card.  I wanted to pop the bird houses up a bit but felt that dimensionals would be too much.

Once my die cuts were complete, I free hand cut a couple of clouds from some adhesive masking paper and then sponged in a sky.  To finish off the card, I then adhered the die cuts, stamped my sentiment and added a multi-looped Hemptique twine bow, embellished with two buttons.

To recap, my card was made using these two Die~Namites Dies~

Today I an sharing an Easter card I made for my Mom and Dad.

I used the adorably sweet Butterfly and Bunny set as well as the Open Vintage Floret set to make this card.  My background flourish comes from the Elegant Joy set. My bunny is fussy cut out and the flower was cut with the matching Vintage Floret Dies.  I used the Classic Leaf Dies as well for the background greenery; I cannot get enough of leaves!  I also tucked a few leaves from the Sweet Juliet Dies in behind the die cut flower.

My sentiment comes from the Inspire Me Sentiments set.  I stamped it onto a strip of paper and notched the end for a banner; I added a decorative edge to the bottom of my card using the Spellbinders  Classic Petal Edgabilities Die.
With Easter coming, I used this same stamp to make a treat box.  You can see it here.

Colors I used ~

The fabulous corner collage style sketch comes from Cardabilities.  As you can see, I turned the sketch.

Just for Fun

Happy Monday, Everyone!

So I decided to have a little 'me' time last night and play in a couple of challenges- no teams, no companies, no releases.  Just challenges and fun.  I really love the sketch this week at CAS(e) This Sketch.  I was all ready to do some flourishy, flowery design, when my eye caught sight if this NBUS.

This is definitely outside of the box and outside of my comfort zone, but that is what challenges are all about, right?

This is also for a scrumptious color combo at Colour Me...Love this!

This is very, very CAS for me.  I almost made it a OLC but could not resist popping the heart up on a dimensional and adding the main panel to a Crumb Cake card base.  I added lots of Wink of Stella marker- to the dots on the roof, the sentiment and to the heart.  After covering the heart with Wink of Stella, I covered that with Crystal Effects.
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is asking us to 'glitter it'.  The team is showcasing Wink of Stella this week, so that is what I chose to use to embellish my card.

Hope you like it!  Have a blessed week!

Spring is in the Air!

Good Morning Everyone!

Today I am sharing on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps blog.  I went a bit vintage'y' again, using pastels, doilies and pattern reminiscent of days gone by.

I had a humdinger of a time taking a photo of this card.  I took pics over and over during a period of several days, and I could not capture this card. It is much prettier IRL.  Hopefully you can see the detail better in the close ups.
I wanted to layer doilies, so I used one of the scalloped border images from the Borders and Background Set and curved it when adhering it to my acrylic block.  I stamped it in Versamark ink on the top half of my white card stock and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

I sponged Soft Sky ink around the edges of the embossing powder doily.  Next, I layered on another half doily, this time an actual paper doily.
On the bottom of the card, I stamped one of the background images from the Borders and Background Set, then added a banner strip across the middle of the card with a bit of lace trim along the bottom edge.

My butterfly, from the Majestic Monarchs Stamp Set, was stamped in Versamark on vellum,  heat embossed with Pool Party embossing powder, and die cut out with the matching  Monarch Dies.  I added a few die cut leaves and some pink scalloped buttons for my flowers.  The sentiment is from the New Beginnings Stamp Set.

That's it for me today; have a wonderful Sunday and a blessed week!

if not head back to the Die~Namites blog to begin the hop.

I used the fabulous Nana's Flowers Die~Namites Die to embellish my photo.

I cut multiple colors of the die out and then pieced them back together to create my cascading flowers and leaves.

Some are dimensional and molded while others are a single layer, all to give the trail of flowers dimension.

I also cut out two of the new Spring Doily Die~Namites Die and used them to anchor both the photo and the beautiful red flowers.

My layout is based on this month's Die~Namites Sketch Challenge~

This fabulous sketch was designed by Design Team Member, Tonya.  There is still time to play along.  You can link up your project, which includes at least one Die~Namite Die,  with us here

Next is a card I made using the amazing new Spring Blossoms Die~Namite Die

I started by cutting the Spring Blossoms Die~Namite die out in white cs and then coloring the image with Copic markers.  Once it was all colored, I cut out the die in pink cs twice and green cs twice and adhered the leaves and flowers to the original, Copic colored die cut.

I molded the flowers and also added shading with a Copic marker.  The flower centers were made with Perfect Pearls.

And once again, I used some leaves from the Love Arrangement Die~Namite Die to embellish the button/bow treatment.  I love that die!

Now, head on over to Peggy Lee’s blog
to continue the hop.
Thank you for joining our blog hop!!

Have a blessed day!

Hop to it with a Spring Treat Box!

Hello Everyone!
With the official first day of spring being tomorrow, I am leaving winter behind and am all about flowers, butterflies and bunnies!  At last the days are getting a bit warmer, birds are nesting and I am finally seeing buds on the trees.  And while it is hard to believe, next month is Easter.  How much Easter candy have you eaten already?!  I know how much I have eaten, and I choose to take the fifth!
Today I am sharing this sweet treat box; it would be perfect for a sweet Easter treat or little gift or trinket~

To make this box, I used my We R Memory Keepers Gift Box Punch Board and cardstock from CutCardStock.  I use Curious Metallic Cryogen White cardstock for the base.  The scallop circle is cut from Curious Metallic Lime cardstock and the grass is Curious Metallic Botanic cardstock
My image is from Heartfelt Creations and was stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto Cryogen White cardstock and colored with Copics.  The flower is also hand made using a floral stamp and die set from Heartfelt Creations.  All of the Curious Metallic cardstocks have a wonderful glimmer to them, which unfortunately, you cannot see in this photo.  But just to be sure things were sparkly enough, I added Wink of Stella marker to the flowers.  I LOVE THAT MARKER!  It lays down the most wonderful glimmer yet is not over the top or over done.
Detailed instructions on how to make this project can be found on the CutCardStock blog.

Thanks so much for popping by today and have a blessed week!

Today is a Birthday with The Card Concept!

Happy Hump Day, Everyone!

Welcome back to another Card Concept Challenge.  It has been wonderful to see how many of you are embracing this challenge and so fun to see all of the different styles!  Today it is all about birthdays~

For some reason, this challenge really stumped me.  Who can't make a birthday card??  But I did know I want to do some watercoloring, so I broke out a nbus that I picked up when visiting San Antonio last summer.

Now you are probably asking yourself about style.  I am still designing in the Elegant and Classy Style defined as~
  • polished
  • shiny finish
  • sparkling embellishments
  • rich colour scheme
  • sophisticated sentiments
  • regal
  • sweeping
  • dramatic
  • monochromatic
  • layered textures
  • awe
  • impress
I have shiny and sparkly elements, namely, gold cardstock, gold embossing powder and glue glitter.  The colors are very rich.  The sentiment is traditional and a sophisticated font and texture is provided with the watercolor paper in contrast to the smoothness of the vellum. I did not go overboard on embellies as I wanted the focus to remain on the watercoloring.  As for the regal, sweeping, dramatic, awe and impress elements, I will leave that to you to decide!  And remember, your card does not need to have all of the elements of a particular style.
You can find all of the amazing Design Team inspiration on The Card Concept Blog.  Now it is your turn!  What style will you create in?

I am linking this card up to the Seize the Birthday Sketch Challenge. The sketch is a loose interpretation of Chupa's sketch at Sketchbook Saturday.

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed week!

Yeah! I LOVE Seize the Sketch!

Hello Everyone!

I am so excited to announce that today is my first official post as a Design Team Member for the awesome sketch challenge site, Seize the Sketch
And what a great sketch to start off with~

I have to admit, I tend to be one to shy away from trends, but I am really loving the vellum and gold embossing trend of late.    I used my brand new Die~Namites Die, Spring Blossoms, vellum and gold ep, to create an airy and SPRINGY card; spring cannot come fast enough!

I cut my branch from white cs and colored it with Copics.  I cut it again two times from green cs and added the leaves to the branches, doubling them up for a fuller effect.  I then die cut two more branches out in pink.  The first (bottom) layer of pink flowers were colored a shade darker with a Copic marker.  The second layer of flowers were shaded around the flower centers with a Copic.  Liquid Pearls was used for the flower centers.  I free hand cut a cloud shape and used it to sponge in a sky on a square of white cs.  I framed the sky with a vellum window.
I added a banner, button, ribbon and leaves (cut from the Love Arrangement Die) to the right hand corner.  I think this Love Arrangement Die is fast becoming my favorite as I use leaves from it on almost every one of my cards!
There is plenty more AMAZING  inspiration from the Design Team on the blog.  I hope you can join us!  You have two weeks to link up your card with us!

Have a Blessed week!

Pick Me Up!

Good Morning and Welcome our final  day of
Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps March New Release Blog Hop!

This final set, Pick Me Up,  will put a smile on any coffee lover's face!

Sweet little images are perfect for embellishing this coffee mug.  Here, I used the open and filled in hearts to embellish the mug. The heart is filled in with Crystal Effects.  I used the chevron style arrow to create a background.  But I have to admit, my favorite little embellie is the steam image.  How cute is that??  I think it is just darling popped up on a dimensional.

For this card, I embellished the coffee cup with a die cut heart and used the sweet burst of steam again. I embellished the bottom of the card with the tiny row of hearts stamp.  This stamp is sooo adorable!  One singular rhinestone adhered to the heart die adds the finishing touch to this card.

The Details~

  • Stamp set measures 4"x4"
  • Coffee mug image measures approximately 1.5" x 1.5"
  • Illustrated by Korin Sutherland
  • Coordinates with Pick Me Up Dies

Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps New Release and Die~Namites Grapes

Hello again, and Welcome to Day 3 of
Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps March New Release Blog Hop!

Today's set is a wonderful scripture set.  I was so excited to see Jer 29:11 included as this has been somewhat of a life verse for me, especially when I was newly divorced and raising a child on my own.  I was comforted by these words, knowing that God had a plan for me.    Here is my card featuring this scripture from the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps God's Will Stamp set and  this awesome Hanging Grapes Die from Die-Namites

This verse deserved some very special framing, so after stamping and die cutting it out in an oval, I die cut my Hanging Grapes Die two times from white cardstock and once from vellum.  I colored the grapes with Copics and cut the left hand bunch away from the die cut and used it to frame the lower left side of the scripture verse.  The remaining two bunches of grapes were used to frame the right upper corner of the scripture verse.  I also used small white leaves cut from the Love Arrangement die to accent the grapes and frame Jeremiah 29:11.
I used Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Borders and Backgrounds on the Wisteria Wonder cs background as well as dry embossed it to give it some texture.

The Details~

  • Includes 6 sentiments
  • Set measures approximately 6"x4"
  • Largest verse measures approximately 2" x 2.5"
  • Designed by Korin Sutherland
  • $15.00

New Borders and Backgrounds

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to Day 2 of
Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps March New Release Blog Hop!
Today we are featuring a fantastic versatile border set, Borders and Backgrounds, for which a matching die set is available.

For this card, I wanted a very soft, vintage and rustic feel.  To achieve this I used soft pastels, vellum, weathered wood dp and tissue paper to stamp my border on.  Each border image is stamped slightly lighter than the next for a subtle ombre look.  I used the matching die to cut the 5 strips of scallop border out.  The sentiment is stamped on vellum and heat embossed with gold embossing powder- I love this new trend!
The inspiration for this card actually came from this gorgeous photo from Curtain Call~

I am also entering it in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, Tick Tock- be inspired by time.  This sentiment is about a unit of time, a day.

Here is a completely different look, using one of the images to make a background.  I just love the versatility of this set!

I was really running out of color mojo, so I went to my 'color' Pinterest board and fell in love with this photo-

I am entering this card in the Shopping Our Stash Challenge- I have 3 rows of a stamped image, 2 rows of text and 1 heart on my card-3,2,1!

And another completely different look, for a very elegant card~

I stamped the image x2 in Versamark and then clear embossed them-unfortunately you cannot see it in the photo-and then cut them out with the matching die. The seam binding looks like it is woven into the die cuts but it is really just underneath the scalloped die cuts.  Pearls cover up where the die cuts meet.

The Details~
  • Stamp set includes 5 images
  • Stamp set measures approximately 6" x 4"
  • Images measure approximately 5.5"
  • Designed by Korin Sutherland
  • Die set includes 5 dies
