The Card Concept Gets Colorful!

Hello Card Concept Fans!

Welcome back to The Card Concept Challenge.  Lesley has picked another amazing color combination for this challenge~

I struggled with this combo initially, but once I settled on an image, it was easy peasy!

I love this now retiring Field Flowers set.  The flowers are stamped in More Mustard and Curry.  The leaves and stems are Smokey Slate.  I heat embossed the sentiment on vellum as I thought the shiny texture mimicked that of the black heels in the inspiration photo.
My card is made in the Classy and Elegant style, which I represent on the blog.  The multiple layers, textured white layer, vellum, heat embossing, and bow work together to make this a classy and elegant card.
There is lots more gorgeous inspiration on The Card Concept blog, so why not head on over and check it out.  Hope you can play along with us!

Have a blessed day!

What a Pear!

Hi Everyone!

Can you believe the school year is almost over?  This spring has been sooo busy, with showers, wedding, retirement parties/dinners and, of course, planning for the summer. I needed a wedding card and did something a little different and non-traditional.
One of my favorite Sweet 'n Sassy Stamp Sets is Punny Fruits and Veggies.  I created a mask for the pear and stamped two of the images to represent the 'happy pair'.  The image comes with a smiley face, but in this case, I decided to mask that out.

With watercoloring being so trendy right now, I decided to get my water brush and reinkers out to color my pears.

And I love the trendy colors of black, gray and yellow!  CutCardStock has the perfect cardstock to complete this color combo.  I used Neenah Solar White cs for my base, image panel, and woodgrained embossed panel.  My yellow circular panel is Carmelized Mustard from the Flavors Gourmet cardstock sample pack.  The gray comes from the same pack and is Squid.  The bit of green is Jelly Bean Green from the Pop Tones Sample Pack.  I used a small bit of designer paper from Heartfelt Creations for the scalloped edge.  The stamped frame is from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Vintage Seed Packet Stamp Set.  I added a bit of glitz to my pears with my Wink of Stella marker; love that thing!  Wink if Stella is a crafting must have for a bit of shimmer!

I relied on Fusion Card Challenge for my sketch inspiration.
I really like how this turned out; love the nontraditional look and the fun play on words, but the card is still elegant.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Have a blessed weekend!

Sweet 'n Sassy Sunshine

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Friday Feature and Challenge, featuring the new stamp set, Sunshine and Flowers.  The doodled flowers in Sunshine & Flowers is a sweet set perfect for creating whimsical cards for that special someone!

For my first card, I stamped the floral image on Crumb Cake cs and then colored in with Prismacolor Pencils.  The sun is from the Happy Happy Stamp Set and was stamped on white cs and colored with Copics, then cut out with its matching die.  I used the Scallop Border Die to for my white scalloped edge.

I wanted to try some masking for my second card and used the single daisy image in the Sunshine and Flowers Stamp Set.

I masked off the strip of cs where my sentiment would go and then stamped a flower on masking paper and cut it out.  I started stamping my flower image, and used the mask as I went along to give the spilling flowers some depth.  I also added an image from the Grunge Elements Stamp Set, stamping it in Smokey Slate.  I stamped off once before stamping on my card front, using the floral mask for this stamp as well.   Black lines were added with a Micron marker along the sentiment strip and then the sentiment from the Thankful Innies Stamp Set was stamped.  A few silver sequins and baker's twine finish it off!
I am entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, Botanicals, as well a CASology 96, Flower.

The Details~

Here we go!

I decided it was time to get started on Christmas cards; I just LOVE the Large Snowflake Dies and the Spectacular Snowflake Dies from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps and just knew they would be great paired with the silver and Perfect Peacock Craft Metal Sheets from Add a Little Dazzle.

I layered 3 cuts; the bottom layer is a silver Craft Metal Sheet cut with a Spectacular Snowflake die; the middle layer is a Large Snowflake die cut from a Pefect Peacock Craft Metal Sheet and the top layer is another silver Craft Metal Sheet cut from another Large Snowflake Die.  I used a sanding block on the top flake to give it a brushed silver look, then added a large rhinestone gem to the center of it.  My sentiment is from my all time favorite snowman stamp set, Welcome Jesus.

I used a sketch from  Tis the Season Challenge Blog-

And added a little bling, so it also fits the Jingle Belles challenge.

Die~Namites Thanks

Hello Everyone!

I have a quick card to share that I have blogged on the Die~Namites Blog today,  using my new Summer Branch die.

I love this versatile die; it is the perfect accent for just about everything, LOL!  Today I ventured outside of my comfort zone and cut my die cut out of patterned paper.  I adhered these end to end on a River Rock cardstock strip that had been embossed.  I added a stripe of coral (it really is coral even though it looks bright orange here) cs and a scalloped edge of blue patterned paper.

I had a scrap of gold heat embossed Spring Doily die cut laying on my desk; as I looked at it, I thought the edge of the die looked like gold braiding.  I trimmed this edge of the die cut and cut it into 3 pieces, adhering them in a scalloped pattern behind my branches and blue scallops.

I stamped and watercolored my image from Fun Stampers Journey; my bird got a bit lost in the patterned paper, so I used the center circular piece of the gold embossed Spring Doily as a base for the bird.

I love the overall collage style of the card;  I think it is a bit eclectic as well, at least for me!

Thanks so much for stopping by today; have a blessed week!

Howdy! Time for a New Seize the Sketch!

Howdy Everyone!

It is time for a new Sketch from Seize the Sketch; this one is from Lesley! It is also time for another Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Feature Friday Blog Hop and Challenge!
I have always been a fan of the 'ol West, and with the ol' West, stars come to mind, so it seemed natural to use the latest stamp set, You're a Star, and matching Sweet 'n Sassy Star Dies for a western themed card.

I stayed true to the shapes, but you can use whatever shapes you desire, as long as the sketch is still recognizable.

The Details~

  • Includes 5 images & 17 sentiments
  • Large star measures approximately 1 7/8" x 2"
  • Designed by Korin Sutherland
  • Coordinates with Star Dies
  • Stamp Set Priced at $15
I pulled out an old SU color, Buckaroo Blue, to stamp my large star.  I paired it with Crumb Cake cs and some old Cosmo Cricket and Echo Park dp.  The pierced oval reminds me of an big 'ol belt buckle and the pewter embossed stars of heel spurs.

Our Sweet 'n Sassy challenge to you this week is to make a Congrats card.

Seeing Spots

Hello Everyone and Welcome to
Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps' Friday Feature Blog Hop and Challenge.
Today we are featuring the fun set, Lots of Spots.

I masked off a section across the lower portion of my card base and then stamped the image multiple times in rainbow colors.  I scored 2 lines above and below the spots, although they are hard to see in this photo.  This is a single layer card; it is not often that I make them as I find them very difficult, so kudos to me!

The details~
    • Stamp set measures approximately 4" x 4"
    • The Happy Birthday Sentiment measures approximately 2" x 1/4"
    • The largest circle measures approximately 3/4" x 3/4"
    • Designed by Korin Sutherland
    • Stamp set priced at $11

    Love You Mom!

    Hello Everyone!

Mom's Day is this weekend; I hope your loved ones treat you like the queen that you are! I am sharing a Mother's Day card using a fantastic die from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps and some great cardstock from CutCardStock.

My card base is of great, sturdy, Neenah Crest Solar White cs from CutCardstock.  I used Spellbinder dies to make my shaped card.  My flowers are stamped with the Thankful Blooms set from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, die cut out and then spiral cut to make rolled roses.  I used the Small Leaves dies from snss as well and colored them with Copics for my leaves for the roses.

'Mother' is die cut with the die from snss and the layer is popped up on dimensionals to give the word depth.

For a complete tutorial on how to make this card, check out the CutCardStock blog  on Friday, May 9th.

Thanks so much for stopping by; every comment is so appreciated!

    Happy Bird-Day

    Hi Everyone!

I am sharing today's card on the Die~Namites Blog today, plus, some really great news- Ribbon Carousel is back and just in time to celebrate our 3rd Birthday ! That's right, monthly challenges and prizes!  This month's challenge is "Party Time".  What better time for a party than a birthday?!
Today's card is a special one for my mom.  She loves nature and birds; she is always looking for a new bird house or bird feeder and has a subscription to a bird magazine.  With that in mind, I created a mini scene of a backyard bird~

I used the Die~Namites Spring Doily die for the background, Fancy Birdhouses die and Winter Branch die
The gorgeous  Spring Doily made a great background, but instead of punching out the pieces, I kept them intact.  I wanted a more subtle pattern and texture so as not to take away from the focal point.
To ensure that pieces did not fall out of the die cut, I used some liquid glue on the backside of the die cut and smeared it over the entire back of the Spring Doily, then let it dry.
I die cut the birdhouse with the bird on it two times from the Fancy Birdhouses Die- once in dark brown and once in kraft with a woodgrain design.  I backed the kraft die cut with white cs to give it stability and keep the pieces from falling out; then, using pop dots, adhered it to the dark brown one.

The same bird house was die cut in blue, the bird was fussy cut out,
    and adhered  to my birdhouse.

Using the the Winter Branch die, I die cut 3 pieces-in green, brown and orange- then pieced the orange berries to the brown branch.

I adhered my birdhouse to a white cs circle that was stamped with a Stampin' Up image from Everything Eleanor and then tucked the
evergreen branches and berries in behind it.
A twine bow, lace and gold embossing on vellum was added to finish the card.

This month Ribbon Carousel is giving away just that- a Ribbon Carousel- to one of our randomly chosen participants!  Head on over to the Ribbon Carousel Blog to find out how to play along, and check out the fabulous samples from the Design Team Crew while you are there.

Colour Me...has an Anything Goes Challenge this week and I am linking up there with the colors green, blue, orange and brown.
