Christmas Mouse

Good Morning!

Just a quick blog post, before I go out and enjoy the glorious weather that we are blessed with here in Saint Louis today.  I have had this darling mouse for quite some time and have not gotten around to inking him up.  This month was the perfect opportunity to color him as I have been participating in Kathy Racoosin's coloring challenge.

This week's Just Add Ink Challenge provided the perfect sketch for him~

SugarPea Sketch and a Bright Idea

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Yep, it is that time- we have a new sketch at SugarPea Designs!

Oh, did I have fun with this one!
 Love this sketch!

I used the Adorkable Stamp Set, stamping the light bulb in Versamark and embossing in white for the background and then stamping in Momento Tuxedo Black and coloring with Copics for the main image panel.   The banner is cut with the new dies, SugarCuts Stitched Flags Dies.
Check out the rest of the gorgeous inspiration from the rest of the Design Team!

Thinking Spring

Happy Saturday, All!

And what a beautiful one it is- sunny and warm!  We broke a record yesterday with a high of 78 in St Louis and today will be just as lovely.  Spring is just around the corner!
Sharing my Friday night crafty endeavors today, using a sketch from Fusion and colors from Unity.

Sketch~

Unity's colors this week are kraft and red.  I used a Unity floral and did a bit of fussy cutting.  I have been neglecting cheese cloth lately and used a bit of that for texture and interest. My flowers sparkle wonderfully with Wink of Stella, though you cannot see it in the photo.  The card base panel is cut with my fave, the SugarPea Designs Zig Zag Stitched Rectangle Dies
I am also linking up to Tuesday Throwdown, 'Layer it Up'.

Thanks for stopping in and have a blessed weekend, no matter your temps!

SugarPea Sketch Time!

Hi Everyone!

Wednesday has rolled around quick this week and Wendy has another fab Sugar Sketch for us!

Now that Valentine's Day is past, it is time to move on to spring and baby cards!  With a few changes, this sketch was perfect for this adorable stork!

I slid the square panel down from the top of the card to the bottom of the card and then rotated the sketch.  Isn't this stork as cute as can be??!!  He is a part of the Bundle of Joy Stamp Set.  The sentiment is also a part of that set and it paired PERFECTLY with the Heart Journal Card Set SugarCuts Dies.  The large banner is from the new Stitched Flags SugarCuts Die Set and was the perfect size for Mr. Stork.  The smaller banner is from the same set.  Lastly, once again I used my favorite die, the Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles; the stitching frames the panel so nicely.

Sneaking in Another Card!

Hi Again!

Second post of the day, I know, but I really wanted to sneak this card into Color Throwdown's Challenge.

The colors are unique and spoke to me-  :)

I decided to ink up this new to me Unity image- I am planning on using it for my niece's high school graduation.  The girl is colored with Copics and the background is a combination of sponging and colored pencils.  Still learning how to used pencils for a background.
I used Rich Razzleberry to mat the image, but you would never know it.  Everytime I take a pic of that color, it comes out looking black or dark brown.  It really is Razzleberry though, just like in the color challenge!
I was inspired by a card a spotted in the Unity Facebook group to pull out this die that has not been used in ages.  I have used embossing paste to give texture to the background.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a blessed week!

Some Gorgeous Colors and a Little Watercoloring

Hi All!

With it being a snowy 3 day weekend here in St Louis, I got crafty as my MOJO slowly returns.  A couple of challenges were just shouting to be played! :)

I fell in love with the color challenge at The Paper Players this week~

I used Kuretake Zig Clean Color Watercolor Markers on the flowers and distress inks on the background.  I did not have a watercolor close to Pool Party, so I decided to combine Shabby Shutters and Peacock Feathers distress inks. When I did this, they did not blend immediately and I really liked the effect of the two separate colors, so kept it that way (though this may mean the challenge police come after me!).
I kept the design very simple and just added a die cut sentiment (WPlus9).  The top layer is die cut directly from the image, then a black die cut sentiment was added to the negative space.  The water colored sentiment was then glued on top, allowing for a bit of a drop shadow so the sentiment would POP.
I am also linking up to Time Out Challenges -it is Inspired by Words week -Love is the Flower You've got to let Grow.
and Inkspirational, where the word prompt is 'Pop'.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a blessed week!

Gorgeous Colors and a Sketch

Good Morning All!

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend!  Many of us in the US have a 3 day weekend thanks to President's Day- Yippee!
I played last night with one of my favorite color combos~

Love, love, love these colors together!  Thanks, ColourQ!

I used the sketch at Viva La Verve~

My butterfly panel is made with vellum, alcohol inks, and alcohol.  I added the colors to the vellum and then stamped the Verve butterflies and embossed them in gold.  I embossed an additional butterfly in gold and fussy cut it out to embellish.
I am also linking up to Just Add Ink's 'Just Add V' Challenge.

Thanks fo stopping by and have a blessed weekend!

SugarPea Designs Wednesday!

Hi Everyone!

It is Wednesday once again and time for a new sketch at SugarPea Designs.  I have not used banners in a while so was excited to play with this sketch.  One more Valentine card for the stash~

There are so many options for combining images in the Key to My Heart Stamp Set; I used several of the images for my Valentine sentiment and background.  Loving the versatility of the set!

For my decorative edges in blue, I used the Zig Zag Stitched Rectangle Dies and trimmed pieces down to size.  I love those dies; I think I use them in every card, lol!
The banners were cut with the brand new Stitched Flags Dies.
I added some Crystal Effects to my heart shaped lock as well as some sequins for shine.

Ready to see creativity from the rest of the Design Team?

There is a chance to win a $75 gift certificate to SugarPea Designs when you participate in our monthly challenges.  The more you play, the more chances you have of winning!  See all of the rules HERE.
I am entering my card in the following challenges~
Mod Squad Challenge- From the Heart
Stamping Smiles Designs- Tic Tac Toe Love challenge

Stampin' Celebration- valentine inspiration photo- I loved the addition of blue in the color palette.

Going Red with a Few Challenges

Hi Everyone and Happy Saturday!

Tried to rejuvenate the mojo today by playing in a few challenges.  I love this week's MOJO Monday sketch, so used that along with Colour Q's colors.

The sketch~
And the colors~

I stamped the floral image from Verve's Happy Place stamp set several times, using a mask.  Used Copic markers on the background and then added texture with alcohol, a sponge and some burlap.  The flowers where then colored with Copics.  I added texture to the flower heads with Crystal Effects, then added clear seed beads to the still wet Crystal Effects.

I love how this turned out.
I am also linking up to The Mixed Media Card Challenge, where this month's challenge is 'Red'.

Thanks so much for popping by and have a blessed weekend!

Playing with New Goodies

Happy Friday Everyone!

Do you love everything you create?  If you are like me, there are things that just don't turn out how you envisioned them.  That is how I feel about this card.  I contemplated not posting this card, but then I decided that trying things is part of the learning process and there is no shame in sharing something that is less then we wanted.

This was my first time inking up this Unity image.  I think this is where I struggled.  Next go around, I may try watercoloring the image.  I am not one to use a lot of patterned paper, but I really like the two patterns here and how they pull out the colors in the colored image.
I used a sketch from Sketch Saturday~

I turned the panels on my card 90 degrees to accomodate the large image.
I am also linking up to (Pin)spirational Challenge- The inspiration photo reminds me of fairy tales and children's stories; as this image is a take on red riding hood, I thought it worked well.

Thanks for stopping by,

A Little Love

Hi All!

This week seems to be all about love and hearts; I decided to use a 'heart' on a non-Valentine card.

I inked up and colored this darling Unity image with Copics.  I am trying to use Copics for backgrounds so experimented with circles here.  I carried the circle pattern over to a second panel, which was die cut with the awesome Zig Zag Rectangle dies from SugarPea Designs.
At this point I was stumped and without MOJO, then discovered the great sketch at MOJO Monday~

My background panel was done with a stencil and translucent embossing paste.  A few SSS sequins and some Doodlebug Design baker's twine finish off the card.
I am also linking up to the following challenges-
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge- 'Have a Heart'
The Mod Squad Challenge- 'Hearts and Flowers'
Fab 'n Funky Challenge-All Creatures Great and Small
Dies R Us Challenge Blog- 'Love'
And lastly, the concept for and inspiration for this card started with the CASE the Designer Challenge at Happy Little Stampers, with this card from Shona Chambers~

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed Wednesday!
