Monochromatic Green

 Hello All!

I hope you have been staying warm this winter.  It is quite cold here today and I am enjoying sitting by the fire.  I felt like coloring earlier this week and I reached for my go to- flowers.

I used a gorgeous bloom from Impression Obsession Stamps, Just Rosy.

The sentiment is from a Sweet n Sassy Stamps stamp set, Precious Poppies.  To create the background, I used the Circle Kaleidoscope die from Spellbinders.  Behind the die, I sponged green ink using the Altenew Green Fields Mini Cubes of ink for an ombre look.

A few sequins from Simon Says Stamp finishes the card.

I am linking up to the Flower Challenge, Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge, Time Out Challenges

Thanks for stopping by!

Be My Valentine

 Hello Everyone!

I have started making Valentines cards; they are my biggest seller.  The new Spellbinders Small Die of the Month from Spellbinders is perfect for an easy, festive card.

While this is a cutting die, I used a Jr. Rubber Mat and debossed the die instead for my white panel.  I then used it as a cutting die with red cs and pink cs.  The pink and red hearts were glued over the debossed hearts.  I die cut a white piece of cs and used the center heart which I then die cut with the intricate floral die in the kit.
The sentiment is from the Spellbinders January Stamp and Die Club Kit.  It was heat embossed in white on black cs and then die cut out with a banner die from the same kit.  The sentiment was popped up on dimensional tape.
These kits are such a great value for what you get!

Hope you have a wonderful week!

Lee Ann

Starting the Year Out Right

 Hello Everyone!

One thing I have challenged myself to get back to this year is the Word.  I can't remember the last time I did Bible journaling or even sat down and read scripture.  I should know that when it feels like life is spinning out of control, what I am missing is God.

Personal struggles, a timely sermon and a Bible journaling session with Deeds (from the Creative Worship Bible Journaling Facebook Group have lead me to my word of the year, love.  Sounds basic, simple.  But I have realized that is absolutely not the case.  Frankly, I think many people have no real idea of what love is.  And I am not pointing fingers at anyone but myself right now.  It is time for me to spend time with God learning of how He wants me to love.

Which lead me to a Bible journaling page with my word of the year, Love.

I followed along with Deeds in the basic format/layout and techniques for journaling as I am seriously rusty!  I used distress inks, distress oxide inks, and stencils for the background.  My plan did not unfold the way I wanted it to, so I had to make some changes to make it all work out.

First, a light coat of gesso was applied to the page. Once dried, I stamped leaves with the set, Gracefully Grateful from IOStamps.  The leaves were colored in with Prismacolor Pencils.  Next, I stamped a cluster of brown leaves with the Silhouette 7 (leaves) stamp from IO.  Originally. the heart image, from the new Spellbinders Stamp and Die Club Kit was stamped in the corner and I tried to watercolor it with distress oxides.  However, things became a big, muddled mess, so I had to regroup.

I stamped more hearts on Neenah Solar White cs and colored them with Copics, then fussy cut them out.  I was going for a floral spray of sorts and I needed leaves for the flower hearts so used the leaves from the snss Like a Sunflower Stamp Set. The caption/title was done with the snss Creative Worship Chunky Alpha Stamp Set and the Creative Worship Rebecca Script Alpha Stamp Set.  Details were added with a white gel pen.

I wrote in some scriptures specifically aboout love and then left room to personalize the page.

Noting that it looks a bit messy and busy, I wanted to not like this page, but then I realized I needed to embrace it as it is not about the artwork but the heartwork.

I pray you all have a blessed New Year and know that the Lord loves you.

Happy New Year!

Hello and Happy New Year to You!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!  Mine was very relaxing.  Now we are looking forward to some winter weather- finally!

The new Spellbinder Club Kits are here!  As I am a sucker for Swedish folk art designs, the new Clear Stamp and Die of the Month for January is perfect for me!

I opted to go with something a bit less traditional for this card, choosing red, blue and yellow hearts.  The images were stamped with Versamark Ink and then heat embossed with white embossing powder.  Using a white Prismacolor pencil, I colored portions if each of the images.

Each heart was die cut out with the coordinating die.  The sentiments were also stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed.  The sentiments were then die cut with the coordinating banner dies.

I adhered a narrow strip of black and white striped paper to the lefthand side of the card front, then cut another panel, just a bit narrower than the card front.  I added a couple of layers of cs to the back of the panel to add dimension once the panel was adhered to the card front.

The hearts were applied and the sentiment strips were popped up on dimensional tape.  A few black sequins finish off the card.

I am thinking this card would be perfect for a teen or young adult.  What do you think?
