Going Vintage with Flower Blocks

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to Day One of Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps March
New Release Blog Hop!
If you are tired of winter and longing for spring, you are in for a treat! Today we are showcasing the newest Flower Blocks Clear Stamp Set.  This is the third set in our Flower Blocks series.  These bold and beautiful blooms make the perfect focal image and can be easily paper pieced or colored.

My pansy was watercolored with Inktense watercolor pencils.

I used Copics on my rose to get a vintage feel, and then fussy cut it out.  The image was stamped a second time on patterned paper and the cut out rose was adhered to it.
I am entering this card in Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge-Vintage or Retro .

Here are the details~

  • Stamp set includes 4 images and 4 sentiments
  • Set measures approximately 6" x 8"

Spring Green Floral with The Card Concept!

Hello Friends and Welcome to another challenge at The Card Concept! This week we have a color challenge for you and Lesley chose some of my favorites, including this gorgeous green~

I know many of us are truly done with winter, myself included, especially since we are shoveling out from yet another winter storm.  I just adore greens and natural elements and I am anxiously awaiting spring, so that is the direction I went with on my card~

My card is designed in the Elegant and Classy Style, which is defined as-

  • polished
  • shiny finish
  • sparkling embellishments
  • rich colour scheme
  • sophisticated sentiments
  • regal
  • sweeping
  • dramatic
  • monochromatic
  • layered textures
  • awe
  • impress

I started with an A-2 prefolded white card base from CutCardStock.   I added a layer of Moroccan Cocoa cs from the Flavours Gourmet Sample Pack
The flower was die cut, assembled and molded, using  the Sno Cone color from the Pop Tones Sample Pack.  This paper gives beautiful results when molding and shaping flowers.

The green leaves were stamped on Curious Metallic Cryogen White cs for a beautiful shimmer!
The white window panel is half of a pre-folded white card base.
I used the Curious Metallic Cryogen White cs for the stamped and embossed inset panel. This panel was stamped with Stampin' Up's En Francais background stamp.

Over that I placed a stencil and used Viva Decor Pearl Modeling Cream.  Both the cream and the Cryogen White cardstock have a beautiful shimmer and sheen to them.

I hope you can join is with this week's challenge!  What style will you choose?  Classy and Elegant?  Clean and Simple?  Vintage?  Head over to the blog and check out all of the great inspiration from the Design Team!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a blessed week!

A Z Becky Brown Blog Hop

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to the CardMaker and Z Becky Brown Blog Hop!

You should have arrived her from Sabrina's blog ; if you did not, you may want to start from the beginning, at the CardMaker blog.
Some of you may remember the Z Becky Brown purse from several years back.  Well, they are back and more in style than ever!  The Z Becky Brown purse makes a great vehicle to showcase all of your favorite, trendy crafting products and techniques.  I love being able to create a purse insert, specific to my needs.  Never be without a purse to match an outfit again!
I have used die cuts, stamps and embossing cream on my Z Becky Brown purse insert~

I started with the Die-Namites Winter Sunflower Die along with a Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Majestic Monarch Butterfly image and matching die.  I grounded these dies with a portion of a Sizzix Thinlit Morrocan Card Front Die.  The background was done using a  Prima template and Viva Decor Modeling Cream.  The modeling cream, while subtle, gives a wonderful pearlescent sheen and texture to the background without being too bulky.

Your next stop on the hop is Kelli Hull.

Be sure to stop and comment on all of the blogs in the hop for your chance to win our best selling handbag 003- Black lid, Black solid handle and nickel hardware, with one package of Ziva papers.

Thanks so much for hopping along with us!
 Have a blessed week!

Where did the Years GO??

Hi Everyone!

I am crafting away while waiting for the snow to start that the weathermen insist is coming.
My son's 22nd birthday is this week, so I needed a card, of course.  I wanted a really special card as last year he was really struggling, so we did not get to celebrate his birthday.  He has always been a huge dog lover; I had my eye on this Kraftin Kimmie stamp and went ahead and ordered it.  It just arrived in the mail yesterday.  I still have lots to learn with Copics, especially when it comes to hair and fur, but I do not think my son will over analyze this!  :)

I colored the image and fussy cut it out, then colored the face/head a second time and fussy cut it out and layered it on with dimensionals.  I followed this great sketch from JUGS-

I am entering this in the Seize the Birthday Challenge, Anything Goes,
and 613 Avenue Create, Anything Goes Challenge, with an Option to Use Your Stash.  My dp is some of the first 6x6 paper I ever purchased.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a blessed week!

There is Still Time to Play with The Ribbon Carousel!

Hi Everyone!
It is week 3 at the Ribbon Carousel and this month's theme is 'Washi Tape'.

I must admit, washi tape is not one of my 'go to' products.  Truthfully, I really do no know how to use it!  So it seemed creating a designer paper look was the way to go for me; I know how to work with paper!  I added diagonal strips of coordinating tapes to my white cs and then trimmed the panel down to size.  Easy peasy!
I stamped my Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps phone and cut it out with its matching die.  I cut my circle mats out and shaped my sentiment into a curve on my block, fitting the curve of the circle; stamped the sentiment 3 times, popped the phone up on dimensionals and added a gingham bow.

So, what is up for grabs this month?  How about a set of 12 wooden spools and seam binding, baker's twine and May Arts Ribbon!

All you have to do is link up your project here, being sure to use washi tape, and follow the 3 rules to be eligible for the prize.

  1. You MUST use ribbon, twine, thread, washi tape or anything that comes on a spool on your creation
  2. Your project must be based on the theme of the month.
  3. You must add a NEW project to the inlinkz below and link directly back to your project on your blog or online gallery. (Unfortunately, we've had participants who would have won the challenge, but they didn't do a direct link to their blog or online gallery post and I couldn't find their creation!)
You can check out the Design Team's Fabulous inspiration here, as well.

Hope you can join us!
Have a blessed week!

Fresh Sketch

Good Morning!
I am enjoying a fun day off seeing as it is President's Day.  Good thing too, as we have freezing rain this morning-anyone else done with winter?
I was intrigued by the Freshly Made Sketches sketch this week and have always been intimidated by this style of sketch, so I decided to give it a go~

I die cut 8 butterflies into my white background layer and the stamped and die cut the butterflies, using the ombre effect in pinks.  I placed all but one butterfly into its negative space.  The one butterfly has bigger dreams- to fly.
Please pardon the poor picture; good lighting/sunshine has been at a premium lately!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
