My Crafty Secret Summer Fun

Hello! 

Here it is Sunday night already; can someone tell me where the weekend went??  Goodness it has gone by fast!  I really wanted to play along over at Crafty Secrets;  I love their vintage images and have been to the website, but never realized they had a blog- and a Linky Party!  I just discovered the blog, thanks to a post by crafty friend, Kathy Clement.
So, I new I was down to the wire, plus I had to download a digi, and I am not very good with digis.  But, I persevered and here is my card~

 I really love vintage people.  That may sound strange, but I do love coloring them.  This sweet little girl fit the bill and as the theme to this month's party theme is 'Summer Fun'.  Enjoying the beautiful outdoors is my idea of summer fun. 
I craft in my basement and the lighting is not very good, so I use an Ott light.  My seam binding looked a very pretty shade of peachy orange while I was in the basement.  However, when I stepped outside to take a picture, there it was, all blaring in neon orange!  So please forgive the neon bow- it was not intended! 
This image is called Flower Girl.  I love this particular sentiment it came with; it is so versatile.  I used a scrap of a Resplendent Rectangle Spellbinders die cut that I had lying on my desk.  I thought the black corners were a great way to embellish the image along the top and the bottom.  The blades of grass behind the sentiment are a die from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, Tall Grass Die.  The frame for the sentiment is the Vintage Oval and matching Die from Verve.

Quick CAS

Hi Everyone!
Back with a second post today, just because I PLAYED! That's right; another card just for fun.  I wanted to try the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch.  And, while we are on the subject, congrats to my friend, Lesley Croghan who is the newest designer for the CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge Blog!  Many of you know her through all of her wonderful challenge blogs as well as from her gorgeous creations.  She will be a welcome addition for sure!
 I am in awe of what some can do with a single image.  Try as I might, I find CAS hard!  But I WILL keep trying! 
Anywho, here is my card~

And here is the sketch~

I used a retired Stamp' Up balloon image and masked the sentiment area off.  I still am a bit in shock that I made a SLC, LOL!  The sentiment is form the brand new Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps set,  Birthday Word Art .  Drew in my black lines, added my balloon strings and called it done. 

I was inspired with the colors at Color Throwdown this week~

For my first card I went all girly, with gold embossing, pink (!) and a doily.  Pink is not usually my go to color and these colors are not traditional Christmas colors.  I was looking for something outside the box though, and since gray is my new fave neutral color, this seemed to work.
I love the images in gold and that rocking horse is my fave- I am already thinking baby card for it!

My second card is completely different from my first- more my typical 'rustic' style.

I used the a sentiment from the new set, Jesus is Born, and paired it with Born this Day- a perfect match, wouldn't you say?  As I was running out of mojo on this one, my sketch inspiration came from MOJO Monday~

I used some holly from the Christmas Silhouettes set for the decorative element on the sketch and cut the holly out with the matching die (yeah for intricate dies!).  My sentiment and a multi looped Waxy Flax bow finish off the card.
I am also entering this in the challenge over at Festive Friday-loving the plaid!

A Birthday Smorgasbord

Today's card was made just for fun (GASP!).  And I must say, it was pretty doggoned fun!  I made a birthday card to celebrate my bloggy friend's birthday.  If you have been to Stacey Schafer's blog, you know she is one talented crafter. She is throwing her own birthday party and giving away presents to boot!

So here is my card for Stacey~

  I have been seeing the sweet color combo of light yellow and light blue lately and decided to give it a whirl.  I used the LJD Darling Dots set and stamped a yellow ombre background. Then I played with some new MFT goodies I just got in the mail, including the Western Sentiments and Die-Namics Award Seal.  I also used the Die-Namics Sunflower and the Layered Leaves Die-Namics which until today, had not been out of the package.

Have A Dazzling Christmas!

Hello Friends and Welcome Back for another Add A Little Dazzle Challenge!

We are in week two of our Christmas in July Celebration.

 This week's Add A Little Dazzle Challenge #33 is an inspiration challenge~

 I just love this inspiration photo; it brings back memories of childhood, of sneaking out of bed at night to check out the packages underneath the Christmas tree! 
I made two Christmas packages from Brushed Gold cs and added ribbons to them, the ribbons being Scarlet Red and Garland Green strips of Add A Little Dazzle Craft Metal Sheets.  I 'curled' my ribbon by wrapping the strips of craft metal sheet around the handle of a small paint brush.

The backdrop for my packages is a red circular mat cut with Spellbinders Exquisite Circles die and lined with a white piece of cs that is embossed with a very old Cuttlebug embossing folder.  The embossed piece of white cs has been sitting on my desk forever! 
The red circle is matted on a piece of retired SU dsp and then adhered to a Very Vanilla card base.

A Top Dog Announcement!

Hi Everyone!

I have more super fun news to share!  I am amongst the newest members of the Top Dog Dies Design Team!  Can I just say this is going to be fun!?  I am thankful for the opportunity to with work with such a talented team of ladies and am looking forward to the next 6 months!

Today's card uses a beautiful Top Dog Die corner die from the Decorative Corners Set as well as the Heart Border Die.

I die cut the Heart Border die from Neenah Solar White cardstock and backed it with Curious Metallic Cryogen White Cardstock for a bit of shimmer (all of the cs used is from CutCardStock).  I used a corner die to add a scallop trim to my Heart Border die, using the colors Coral from the Basis Sample Pack, as well as Orange Fizz, Berrylicious, Bubble Gum and Cotton Candy from the Pop Tones Sample Pack.  My scalloped border was mounted on a strip of Neenah Solar White cs that was embossed with a SU polka dot ef and then mounted on a piece of Pink Lemonade cs.  A sheer organza ribbon was wrapped around the heart border panel and tied in a bow. 
I stamped my greeting and cut a notch in it for a banner. The background of the banner is stamped with a sentiment, 'for baby' in Blush Blossom.  Smaller banners were added and pearls, a button and white baker's twine finish off the card.
My inspiration for this card came from the Curtain Call Challenge, where Top Dog Dies is the sponsor this week!  You still have time to play if you hurry!

Seize the Sketch Gets Ducky!

Hello Everyone!
  It is time again for a new sketch from Seize the Sketch.  Vicki brings us this week's versatile sketch which you can dress up or dress down.

 I had lots of fun with this sketch and used a stamp set that I just had to have and have had for quite some time, but one which has barely seen ink!  As you can see, I dressed the sketch up, adding layers, including a doily. 

I also turned the sketch and added some banners.  The stamp set is Papertrey Ink's On the Farm set.  I stamped my duck in different shades of yellow and fussy cut them out, layering the images for depth.  The background was stamped with the checkerboard image; I stamped off once to give my background a more rustic look.  I love the sentiment that accompanies this image; it is perfect for a friend who is recovering from foot surgery; it is sure to bring a smile to her face!

I am entering in the challenge at Shopping Our Stash, in which the challenge is Wooden Ships- I have used Wood Veneer on my card.
