Challenged by OWH

Today's MWT from Operation Write Home was to make a black and white card with 1 accent color.  I thought this was going to be easy; I had a vague idea in my head, but boy, it really went no where!  I ended up with a very different card than I thought I started off making.  And now I know why I don't use black embossing powder too often!!  Even with the embossing buddy, the powder seemed to get everywhere on the white cardstock. From now on, I think I will use black pigment ink and clear embossing powder!
For this card I used:
  • Neenah solar white card stock
  • Versamark stamp pad
  • black embossing powder
  • SU lucky limeade ink
  • black organza ribbon and an adhesive pearl
This card has been entered in the Stampin' Sisters for Christ Challenge.  Thanks for looking!

  1. Sometimes the cards that don't turn out as we hoped are the great ones. :) I love this!!! SO pretty.

  2. Wow! I had no idea when I saw the thumbnail that the doily was embossed! I know what you mean about the darn powder. I love to emboss and I can examine a card until I am half blind and I will still get speckling. I even heat from behind the card and it still shows up after I heat it. I think you are right, black pigment ink and clear embossing powder is the way to go. Well, back to you card.....it is gorgeous. A great inkling turned into a fantastic card. Love the white, black, and green. Just lovely. Thanks for playing in our Midweek Throwdown challenge at Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps!

  4. Gorgeous stamping and embossing! I, too, get frustrated with the trailing bits of embossing powder. Clear powder just might be the way to go!

  6. This may not be the card you originally envisioned but it is gorgeous! The embossing adds so much detail and texture it makes me wish I could see this one in person.

  10. Amazing! Your card is so eye catching and gorgeous! I've heard it you heat the embossing powder from under the card, it doesn't spread around as much.
