Hello Again!
This is my last week as Our Daily Bread Design's Guest Designer. I have had such a good time designing with their beautiful images and sentiments. With the 4th of July right around the corner (can you believe it?) I have a primitive Americana card to share with you-
This image also seemed appropriate to use at it is the one that brought me to ODBD in the first place.
I stamped the image in Van Dyke brown distress ink and then masked and sponged on the color. The image was cut down from a rectangle to a square and Van Dyke brown ink sponged around the edge. I got out the sewing machine and stitched around the edges of the image as well as along the flag stripes, then adhered it to an embossed and sponged back panel. The star is diecut, embossed and sponged with Van Dyke Brown ink as well. It is popped up on dimensionals as is the sentiment panel.
I have done variations of this card before-
To change it up, I double stamped the image; first I used the faux watercolor technique, then I simply inked up the stamp and overstamped without spritzing the inked stamp with water. I also stamped the grasses a second time, behind the lighthouse. I used white acrylic paint for the sea spray and foam. The lighthouse is actually curled to give it a 3D look. The sea gulls are fussy cut out and adhered to the lighthouse. I made a button out of the compass image on the lighthouse by stamping it 4 times, cutting them out with a circle die, adhering them together and then piercing 2 holes through the layers.
Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed week!
Lee Ann :)
