Poppy Geraniums

This is the second of two cards for the counselors at school; tomorrow is School Counselor Day.  Thank your children's counselor(s)!

I started by coloring the image with markers, then stamping on Whisper white.  I cut the image out with an Oval Framelit and sponged Daffodil Delight in towards the center of the image.  I cut a second oval and turning it into a frame, embossed it with the Oval Holiday ef; I then brayered Poppy Parade ink over the embossed frame.
The background panel is embossed with the Polka Dot ef.  The image was adhered to the background panel and then the frame was popped up on dimensionals and placed.  The bow was made and accented with a Vintage button and a brad.  Finally, the sentiment was stamped in Stazon black and a banner created by punching both ends of the sentiment strip with a square punch.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a Fabulous Friday!

A Little Watercoloring

Hi Everyone!  It is cold here in St Louis today, but not nearly as cold as I have been hearing from friends to the north!  I am thinking of them as I sip my hot chocolate and sit in my cozy basement stamping!
Today's card is a cheery card for one of the counselors at work- it is School Counselor Day.  It is also my first card using my new and AMAZING Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils.  There is definitely a learning curve with these, but they are fun!

I stamped my image in Stazon Black on watercolor paper, then colored in with the Inktense pencils and blended with a water brush.  The bow was made with my new Becca's Bow Maker, which is also amazing.  No more frumpy bows!
That is really all there is to this clean and simple card!  Thanks for stopping by my corner of blogland.  Stay warm everyone and have a blessed Friday!

Mod Dots and Butterflies

Hello and Happy Saturday, All!

It is a sunny but cold day here in St Louis-good for staying inside!  The chores are calling me, but I found some time to stamp and create a card for the week's Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.  It has been a while since I have played the blog challenges, so it took some getting "back into the swing of things"!
Here is this week's sketch-
And here is my take on the sketch-

I went with a bright and bold design to cheer up a friend who has been home bound due to illness.  I started with one of my favorite designer papers from the Patio Party pack, then punched 1/2 " circles using Pool Party, Razzleberry, Island Indigo and River Rock cs.  I adhered the circles to the white circles on the dp using dimensionals.  I stamped the butterflies and fussy cut them out.
The dotted panel is mounted on Whisper White and a Razzleberry cs border was added.  The sentiment was stamped using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig and a square punch was used to create the banner.
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

Shabby Elegance

Hello and Happy Sunday!
It is hard to believe another week has come and gone.  This weekend is a long weekend with tomorrow being Martin Luther King Day so I am settled in and crafting.
Today's card is in honor of the featured stamper at Splitcoaststampers this week.  Monkeymama, or Angela irl, has a gallery chock full of delightful cards.

This Stampin' Up only card features Designer Series Paper and a sentiment stamp from Sale-a-Bration products.  The patterned paper strips were fussy cut out following the design of the paper.  The sentiment was stamped in Razzleberry and die cut using an  Apothecary Framelit.  The doily is spritzed with sparkly Smooch Spritz, although you cannot see all of the pretty dazzle in the picture.  All of the elements are on a Naturals White mat and mounted on a Crumb Cake card base.  The sentiment panel is popped up on dimensionals and a large, dazzling rhinestone is added.

Thanks so much for visiting and have a craft-filled weekend!

Exciting News

Hello All!
I have a CAS card to share with you today, but first I wanted to share some very exciting news.  A dream to be on a design team has become a reality for me.  In November I was asked to be on the SU Creative Crew at Splitcoaststampers.  I thought this was an incredible opportunity and an honor, but then in December I received a call from Lydia, at SCS.  She asked me if I wanted to be a part of the DIRTY DOZEN!
Well, I was in a state of shock!  Me, on the Dirty Dozen with all of those amazingly talented women.  The first few weeks have been a whirlwind of excitement, nerves, and FUN!  Why not head over to www.splitcoaststampers.com and check out the Dirty Dozen Gallery.  The gallery just opened Tuesday and has some fabulous work in it. This month's theme is Dirty Laundry!
The sketch challenge at SCS this week was a fun one, and one that I thought lent it self to a CAS style card.

I have been into bold colors lately, and this card is no exception.  I stamped the sentiment from Trendy Trees onto Sahara Sand and then embossed it with the Woodgrain EF.  I embossed panels of So Saffron and Basic Gray with the Chevron EF and Honeycomb EF.  A zig zag cut piece of Tea for Two dsp is sewn onto the card front.  The card base and butterfly are Poppy Parade.  The butterfly is made using the Beautiful Wings Embosslit. Once I settled on my elements it was an easy peasy card to make.  All the supplies are Stampin' Up.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a blessed Friday!

Western Sunday

Hello everyone!
Well, another Sunday is here which means another Featured Stamper at Splitcoaststampers.  Today's Featured Stamper is Lynn, aka allee's,  Lynn has a wonderful and diverse gallery; I chose a western themed card to case in her honor.
Here is my card-

I dug out a "moldy oldie" set that has not seen ink for quite some time.  This started out as a single layer cas card, but as you can see, it is no longer single layer.  CAS, I am not so sure!
I started out by masking the wide panel and sponging it with Soft Suede. Then I inked up the western medallion and spritzed the inked stamp with water and stamped the sponged panel.  After that, I inked up my Canvas background stamp with Crumb Cake ink and stamped that over the masked panel.
I removed the mask and then scored along both edges of the panel.  Following that, I stamped several more medallions in Early Espresso, cut them in half, and sponged the edges to create the scallop border. The stars were stamped and fussy cut out then popped up on dimensionals.  A sentiment and linen threat finish this card.
Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a blessed week!

Colorful Inspiration

Happy Saturday to everyone!
I have a baby shower to go to today, but I thought I would sneak in a little stamping this morning.  Today's Inspiration Challenge at SCS provided us with another wonderful website to help us become inspired.  I selected a colorful grouping of fabrics as my inspiration and here is the end result-

I am loving all of the creative possibilities this wonderful Swallowtail image provides.  Today I used 4 different ink spots to ink up the image, stamped it and then used Shimmer Paint to give it sparkle.  You can see this in the close up below.

Not only does the Shimmer Paint give it sparkle, but it also spreads the ink some, allowing for blending of the ink edges and light coloring of the white spaces.  I don't know why I hadn't tried this paint sooner;  LOVE this product!

EDIT-I used a small paint brush to apply the Shimmer Paint and frequently moistened the brush with water which allowed for smoother and more even coverage of the Shimmer Paint.

Thank You so much for stopping by and have a blessed weekend!

A CAS Challenge for the New Year

Hello!  The first CAS Challenge at SCS this year is titled "Postage Due".  I did not go out of the box on this one, just used a "postage stamp" from last year's Sale-a-Bration, Fresh Vintage.

This is pretty straight forward.  I used the stamp-a-ma-jig for placement of the lacey image.  The "stamps" are popped up on dimensionals.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a blessed week!

Favorite CAS Cards of 2012

This post is just a wee bit late as it is January 6th already.  However, I really wanted to do a "year in review" type of post, only in this case it is my Favorite CAS Cards of 2012.  Tomorrow I will post my Favorites of 2012 (non-cas cards).  Here they are, in no particular order-

I am pretty thrilled with these cards as a year ago I did not even know what a CAS card was!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and have a blessed week!

Designer Paper Challenge

Happy Friday, Everyone!  It was a wonderfully short work week and here we are again at the weekend!  I have 2 more Creative Crew cards for you today; these cards are for the challenge focusing on the new Designer Series Paper in the Spring Mini and Sale-a-bration catalogs. I have used the Tea for Two dsp for these cards-

For this card I have paired the bird from Everything Eleanor with the bird cage from Nature Walk to create a vintage style card.

For this card I have used a sentiment from the Trust God set and made a rolled rose by punching a large scalloped circle, cutting it into a spiral and rolling the spiral, starting from the outside and working your way to the center.  The edges of the rose are sponged with Calypso Coral.  Fan Fair dsp is also used behind the sentiment.
Thanks so much for visiting!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Blessings,
Lee Ann :)

Happy Anniversary!

Stampin' Up is celebrating 25 years of being in business, providing beautiful stamps for all of us who love to get inky.  One of the Creative Crew Challenges this month is to create an anniversary card.
Here is my card-

You can view the entire Creative Crew Gallery at Splitcoaststampers.
For this card, we were given a great sketch to follow.  I used the "25" stamp from the Merry and Type set, embossed it in silver and punched it out with the extra large oval punch.  The flowers are from Elements of Style and are stamped in Always Artichoke and Lucky Limeade.  The image panel is cut using the "out of the box" technique.  Additional flowers were stamped and fussy cut out and either placed behind the image panel or popped up on dimensionals.  To frame the panels, I have scored around the edges of the card base.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog and have a blessed week!

New Beginnings

Happy New Year to All!  The new year has come with some exciting new challenges for me, one of which is having the opportunity to be a part of the SU Creative Crew Challenge team over at Splitcoaststampers.  For the next four months, I will be creating projects to inspire others playing along in the challenges.  This month's challenges are now open for you to join us.
The Catalog Focus Challenge has us focusing on stamps, ink and paper ONLY!  No goodies like, dies, ribbons or buttons!  Here is one of my catalog focus cards-

I just love how this oversized butterfly is paired with the "Wish BIG" sentiment.  The image panel is matted on black and popped up on dimensionals onto a black card base.  This card is fun and easy to do, albeit a little time consuming with all of the watercoloring!

Thanks so much for stopping by and may your New Year be a creative one!
