All you need to do is go to their blog and leave a comment, so be sure to settle in with a cup of coffee and enjoy the creativity!

Lee Ann Barrett- you are here.  Thanks for leaving me a comment!

I have been considering card styles lately, trying to figure out what I like and how I create and why.  I gravitate to elegant cards but will try just about anything; today I tackled the collage style card~

What about other card styles?
I enjoy clean and layered cards, although often mine tend to be more 'natural' and layered~

I have learned to embrace cas cards~

Maybe you are a vintage/shabby chic girl.  I enjoyed creating this shabby card~

But, as I said, elegant cards seem to be what I gravitate to ~

So, what style are you?  I am sure we could name other styles, and I have certainly made cards that do not seem to fit in any category.  I would love it if you let me know what style you like and which of my above mentioned cards is your favorite.  Crafty Style. It is something to think about for the new year!

Now on to the giveaway!  Please note that unfortunately, due to shipping costs, I cannot ship out of the U.S.  You have until January 5th, 11:59 EST to comment for a chance to win this giveaway.  Winner will be announced January 6th at 9pm EST.

Ring in the New Year with the Heartfelt Creations Alumni Blop Hop

Hello Everyone and Happy New Year!
It isn't quite New Year's here yet, but I know that somewhere in this world it is already 2014. It is hard to say good bye to 2013 as it was quite an exciting year, but I am looking forward to what 2014 will bring.

I am so glad you could join us for the Heartfelt Creations Alumni Blog Hop. You have a chance to win a $25 gift certificate from Heartfelt Creations just by leaving a comment on participating blogs; the more blogs you visit and comment on, the greater your chances of winning.  You can hop until midnight (EST) on January 3rd.  Winner will be announced on our blogs at noon on January 4th.

My card today probably will go down as the project that took the most time to create-ever!  I started with a completely different project and reworked it at least 6 times over a period of 4 days and finally scrapped it!  I went in a totally different direction and came up with this~

While I love Christmas, winter, and snow, I really needed a shot of spring color; I think pink, green, and yellow fill that category!
I started with the Decorative Leafy Frame Die and embossed it in white on vellum.  I stamped the butterfly image and colored it with Copics, then stamped again just for a second butterfly and colored it as well.  both complete image and second butterfly were fussy cut out.  The frame and butterfly/floral image were matted on green cs and adhered to a white card base.  The card is a nonstandard size of 6.25 x 4.25 inches.

Banner CAS Card

Hi Everyone!

Hope you all had a fantastic Christmas!  I am still eating leftovers (translates to "Yeah, no cooking") and picking up wrappings.  But I am back in the craft room; I feel I have been away too long, between illness and the Christmas Holiday.  Now I am running short on MOJO.  I did find a little bit of a creative spark when I saw this Freshly Made Sketches sketch and paired it with the color palette from Colour Q

I am really pleased with how this turned out, especially since it is outside of my comfort zone.  All products are Stampin' Up.  I stamped the map from Map It Out and then stamped several banners on dsp using the small banner image from the Designer Type set; they were fussy cut out.  The arrow was stamped twice on Coastal Cabana cs and fussy cut out.  The word 'miss' was stamped on one of the arrows. The arrows were layered using dimensionals.  The You Are Here arrow was stamped on Baked Brown Sugar and fussy cut out as well.  The whole top panel is adhered with dimensionals.
And yes, I do have a friend I am missing in Texas!  :)

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a blessed weekend!

SNSS post

Hello!
Have you recovered from yesterday's festivities yet?  Maybe you are still picking up wrapping paper or maybe you are sneaking away for some 'you' time to try out your new stamps you got for Christmas.  Christmas here was quiet and peaceful, so I am now ready to rock the stamp room!  But first,  I have a quick card to share today- trendy, with lots of banners~

I borrowed the sketch from Cardabilities~
I stamped the fabulous vintage typewriter from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Keep in Touch set in black and die cut it out.  Banners were cut from Echo Park dp.  I added the background "grunge" with the new Sweet 'n Sassy Grunge Elements set.
I think, come February, I will be changing up the color of the banners on this sketch and turning it into a Valentine card.
I hope I have inspired you to get stamping!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a blessed week!

A Fun CAS Christmas Thank You

Hello Everyone!

I have been out sick for a couple of days now, but was finally coming around this afternoon so went downstairs for a little stamping therapy.  I wanted to play with a couple of new stamps that I got over the summer at a stamp show.

I stamped my image in Stazon as I wanted to watercolor in a background around it.  I had to be careful when coloring with Copics to not bleed the Stazon.  Also, the image is stamped on mixed media paper and the Copics really bleed on this paper, so again, caution and patience were needed to color the image.
The banners were stamped on dsp and the "THX" stamped on the red banner.  Both banners were fussy cut out and adhered to the card with the red banner popped up on dimensionals.
The colors came from SCS Color Challenge this week- Gumball Green, Blushing Bride and Real Red.  The sketch is from Seize the Sketch.

The card is also for Simon Says Stamp Challenge, which is-to use a stamp!
Over at Merry Monday, the challenge is to use an animal on our Christmas card.
And at 613 Avenue Create, the challenge is all about CAS cards.
Thanks for popping in and enjoy these last few days  before Christmas!

Lee Ann  :)

Supplies Used-
Stamps- Crackerbox Palace (dog), Stampin' Up Typeset (banner and letters), QKR Stampede (sentiment)

Ribbon Carousel Anything Goes

Hello Friends!
There is still time to play in the Ribbon Carousel Challenge this month; the theme is "Anything Goes".  It doesn't get easier than that!  You can play along for your chance to win a Ribbon Carousel!
We are getting down to the wire, as far as Christmas cards go AND as far as the Ribbon Carousel being open.  If you don't have your own carousel yet, you can still get one for $45 (that's half off!) through December 18th!  Has a Ribbon Carousel been on YOUR wish list?
Only one more week until Christmas and I am still making Christmas cards!  I used Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Poinsettia Stamp Set and lots of glitter for this card.

Although I am not a huge glitter fan, I have always admired those perfect strips of glitter that I have seen on cards.  I finally pulled out the Scor-Tape and gold glitter and went to work.  I really like how this turned out- more than enough glitz, but not over the top.  The poinsettia was heat embossed with gold embossing powder and the outermost leaves were lightly watercolored.  I then stamped and embossed the flower a second time and fussy cut it out, only including the all-white leaves/petals.  I never know what to call a poinsettia flower, as it is really leaves that we refer to as a flower!
Also, you may have noticed that the sentiment is not centered.  That is a Fail on my part as I thought I was going to have a bow to the right of the sentiment, but that did not happen.  Seeing as the sentiment was already glued down, well, it was going to have to stay off center!
I used Liquid Pearls instead of pearl bling for this card, which reminded me of why I usually do not use Liquid Pearls!
But for all of my mishaps and Oopies, I really do like how this turned out, and I hope you do too!
With all of the glitter here, I am entering this card in the Great Impressions Challenge, which is to use glitter.

Remember, to play in Ribbon Carousel's, 'Anything Goes' Challenge, you must follow these rules-
-Your project must be based the this month's theme (well, that's easy!)
-You must use ribbon, twine, washi tape or anything that comes on a spool in your project
-You must add a NEW project to the inlinz at the bottom of this post here

And don't forget to check out the inspiration from the rest of the crew while you are there!

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed week!

Short, Sweet and Shabby

Hi Everyone!
Seeing as I am quite under the weather today, this blog post will be short.  It is sweet as it is all about gingerbread and it is shabby because I have the pleasure  of being guest designer for the Shabby Tea Room this week.
Red, white, gingham and gingerbread all have to be components of your cards/projects this week.

I started with my treat holder (instructions here); I guess I am not a gingerbread person because I had to search through all of my craft supplies to find one lone piece of dp with gingerbread men on it.  I cut him out in a circle, added a kraft circle that I had lying on my desk and then added my scalloped circle.  The gingham is stamped  and a piece of Gumball Green cs is layered on top of it.  My sewing machine decided to act up on me part way through my project, so the stitches are not quite right.
I love the holly from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Christmas Silhouettes; I stamped several of these and die cut them out, then covered them with Stampendous Crystal Snow.
You may be wondering why my card is not identical to my treat holder.  Well, truth be told, I really, really dislike making multiples of anything.  For the card, I added a banner and a strip of muslin which I wrapped around the gingham layer, gathered the two ends together, and tied them with some baker's twine.  Red buttons and baker's twine finish off both projects.
Do you still have Christmas projects to finish?  Stop by the Shabby Tea Room and play along!

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed week!

Cocoa Paints the Town Orange!

Hello Everyone!
Can you believe there is less than 2 weeks 'til Christmas?  I feel like the season hasn't even started yet! Other than put the tree up, I have done next to nothing;  I hope you are farther along than me!
Of course, I still worked in some stamping!  Today's card was made with one of the new releases from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps

Don't you just love this little guy?  He manages to show up everywhere, and today he is adding a little color to the world.

Cocoa is colored with Copics and fussy cut out.  I have used some Echo Park dp, a Stampin' Up doily and that teal banner is actually a Home Depot paint swatch.
The bottom of the card is embossed with a chevron embossing folder.  I defined the orange dp by drawing a black line around the edges.  Orange ink was spritzed across the doily and I added some sequins for some sparkle to finish off the card.
To sweeten the deal, Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps is having a 12 Days of Christmas Sale-every day through the 23rd is a new special!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a blessed weekend!

Christmas Treats

Hello Everyone! I just received my Stampin' Up order and had to play with a new stamp set. I wanted to create cute treat bags, so set about measuring, scoring and punching paper.

I cut two pieces of Gumball Green cardstock to 5 1/2 x 2 7/8.  I scored each piece 1/2 inch up from what will be the bottom of the treat holder.  Then, fold the score lines and adhere the 2 one half inch flaps together (I used Scor Tape).  I did not overlap the two flaps completely; I only overlapped about 1/4" of the flaps.  I cut a white panel, leaving about 1/4" smaller than the green cs on all sides.  I embossed the lower portion of the white panel with the polka dot ef then adhered it to the green cs.  Punch the handle through all 3 layers of cs-one white layer and 2 green layers.
You can now embellish your treat holder however you would like.  I used WaterColor Winter and Morning Post Numbers along with the coordinating Deco Labels Collection Framelits. Then, LOTS of glitter, which is something I do not do too often!

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed week!

The Card Concept- A Challenge

Hello friends! I have wonderful news today!

Many of you may know the talented Lesley Croghan and the many challenges for stampers that she hosts throughout blogland.  I have participated in many of them myself!  Lesley's latest venture is a challenge called The Card Concept, which allows one to explore the various styles of stamping- 6 of them to be exact.  I am thrilled to have been asked to be one of the designers representing the Classy and Elegant style.  What is the Classy and Elegant style you ask?
It may include these features-
  • polished
  • shiney finish
  • sparkling elements
  • rich color scheme
  • sophisticated sentiments
  • regal
  • sweeping
  • dramatic
  • monochromatic
  • layered textures
  • awe
  • impress
That is quite a list!  I personally tend to use a lot of layered textures such as dry and heat embossing, fabrics, and mixed media.  I also tend to reach for sophisticated sentiments and images-frequently florals, like the card below-
As you can see with this card,  I have used a sophisticated sentiment and floral image,  have lots of texture with mixed media, have a dramatic flourish and have added a bit of bling.

We start in January; I hope you will join us for some great challenges!  Keep up with the news by following The Card Concept blog and 'like' us on facebook

Trying the Chalkboard Technique

Hello Everyone!
I have a quick post today sharing a card I made for MOJO MondayThe Shabby Tea Room and Simon Says Stamp.   I tend to not be a trend follower, so I had not tried the chalkboard technique.  But after seeing it featured over on the Merry Monday Challenge, I decided to give it a whirl.

I used this great sketch from Verve's MOJO Monday~

And this inspiration from The Shabby Tea Room~

I was drawn to all of the pattern in this photo as well as the black and kraft colors.
Simon Says Stamp asked us to use a flourish of some sort on our project.  I used this great bling flourish.
If you are familiar with Verve's stamps, you know that this tag stamp has a snowflake on it.  I masked the snowflake so I would just get the tag shape edge.  I stamped leaves and sentiment from Bloom and Grow on the  now plain tag and embossed everything in white.

Thanks so much for stopping by-
Have a blessed week!
