Fall is for Pumpkin Pie!

 Hello and Happy Fall! 

Yes, I have been absent for quite some time.  I have had to reprioritize life and in addition, I lost all interest in crafting.  But today, I finally had a desire to craft!  And apparently it is World Card Making Day.  So, I sat down and made some food and fall themed cards.  

I am a sucker for pumpkin pie,.. or maybe I should say whipped cream with a bit of pumpkin pie!  My slice of pumpkin pie is made with Spellbinder's Serve a Slice Dies.  The plate and fork are from the Dish it Up Dies from SB.  I used lots of scraps and recycled card parts for this card.  The pumpkin filling was made with an old distress inked piece of paper that I sponged more color onto- I used Rusty Hinge Distress Ink.  I splattered it with a bit of water using the Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer for a bit of texture.  The two strips of patterned paper and white cs are also out of the scrap pile and the card base is a recycled base from a card I disassembled.  I used Mirror Silver CS for the fork.  My sentiment is from the So Grateful Stamp Set from Sweet n Sassy Stamps.

Give Thanks

 Hello All! 

It is sure hard to believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner.  I made this card to send to my parents in Florida.  

I used the Impression Obsession Wheat Slimline Stamp for this card.  I stamped the image onto Bristol cs using my MISTI so that I could stamp multiple times.  I stamped in oranges, golds and deep reds.  Then when I was happy with the color, I stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed the image in clear embossing powder.  

Once that was cool, I used Distress inks in Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans to sponge the background. For texture, I spattered water on the distress ink.  Lastly, I spattered with white acrylic ink.  

The sentiment is the Give Thanks Die; I stacked 2 die cuts for dimension.  

I did not think it needed sequins so I called this done!

Over the River and Through the Woods

 Hello and Happy November!  

I don't know about you, but I am super excited for Thanksgiving.  Tradition is my jam so a full turkey dinner even if it is just for two is always on the menu. 
 And speaking of tradition, do you have certain songs that you associate with holidays?  How about Over the River and Through the Woods?  Oh my, that song is Thanksgiving to a t!  
This image and scene reminds me of that song;  Travelling to grandmother's house, which we always did as kids.  So many memories!  

I used the fabulous Vintage Van Stamp Set-gotta love the pumpkins!  I used distress inks and Ken Oliver Colorburst Watercolors to color the scene.  The van is stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink.  The trees were done using the Scene Silhouettes -Trees Stamp Set, inked them up with distress inks and then spritzed with water before stamping onto Arches Watercolor Paper.  Sentiment is from the Fall Remix-Autumn Splendor Stamp Set.  Did you notice the license plate?!

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to do some coloring and this Concord and 9th image was really calling my name.  The colors from The Color Throwdown were perfect.

Everything is colored with Copics with a bit of highlighting with a gold pen (which you cannot really see as I struggled with photography today).  The sentiment is from the Sweet n Sassy Stamps So Grateful Stamp Set.  I just love this font. 

The inspiration photo at The Card Concept served as my floral inspiration.  I kept my card CAS style.

Holidays with Addicted to Stamps

Hi Everyone!

It is time for a new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More.  This week's challenge is 'Holiday'.

As I have made lots of Christmas cards already, I decided to go with Thanksgiving this week.
The image, Falling Leaves, from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, is heat embossed in Tarnished Gold ep.  I added a watercolor background using my Colorburst in Turquoise.  The sentiment, from the Autumn Mum Greetings Stamp Set, is heat embossed in Early Espresso on vellum.

Let's Talk Turkey with Top Dog Dies!

Hi Everyone!

Can you believe tomorrow is Halloween??  Time to start thinking Thanksgiving!  I LOVE Thanksgiving.  And just in time for the season,  Top Dog Dies has a brand new die set perfect for Thanksgiving cards-  Turkey Time.

This die set cracks me up!  No matter how I looked at it, all I could think was comical.  So I went with it!  I used the new Scalloped Frame and Mat Die Set from Top Dog Dies to frame my goofy gobblers. 
I stamped my Bermuda Bay cs with SU's Hardwood background stamp and then die cut the Top Dog Die Scalloped Frame from it.  I die cut the frame from Pumpkin Pie cs as well, trimmed the scalloped edges from it and adhered the scallops to the Bermuda Bay frame. 
Three turkey heads were cut, along with their 'parts', and googlie eyes were added.  How can you not put googlie eyes on these guys??!
A banner with my sentiment, a button and some white baker's twine finish it off!

Designing with Crafty Secrets

Hello Everyone!

I have the pleasure of being guest designer at Crafty Secrets this month. I love their sweet vintage images and am honored to be working with such great products and such a talented team!

Welcome to the October Linky Party! 

I am working with the brand new Thanksgiving Release.  These two cuties just had to be colored!  I love the detailed images and they are just so doggoned adorable!  I colored them with Copics and then fussy cut them out (yes, I really did!).  I printed the sentiment and die cut it out with MFT's Award Seal Die.  I framed the sentiment with the wishbone.

I 'fall for' texture and burlap is one of my current 'go to' items.  However, on this card I did not want to add too much bulk, so I embossed my kraft card stock to look like burlap.   How do you emboss a burlap look without going out to buy yet another embossing folder?  (I know- you already have too many folders, just like me!)  I used a piece of burlap, my tan embossing mat and a thin shim and was able to get nice, deep impressions. I also added a little bit of texture to the sentiment panel.  If you are like me, your embossing machine is well loved!  I am still using the original plates with my Big Shot and they are very rough from the amount of die cutting I have done on them.  I sandwiched my sentiment panel between the cutting plates face down on the rough, scratched up plate.  I added a couple of thin chip board shims and ran it through the Big Shot.  This gave my panel a hint of texture, but nothing overpowering.  I tried to get a good picture of it for you, but it is still hard to see in the photo.
My gold background paper is also from the new Thanksgiving Release.  Isn't it scrumptious? I love the deep, rich, earthy colors.  I added more texture with embossing, linen thread and an elegant seam binding bow.  This will go to my parents, who live in Florida.

Giving Thanks

Hello Everyone!

It is hard to believe we are well into the month of November and Thanksgiving is next week!  Need a crafty break from the hecticness of the season?  There is still time to play at Ribbon Carousel's Challenge 87- Holidays and Celebrations!  This is wide open for interpretation- it could be Christmas or Hanukkah, or a birthday or even TGIF!!
Regardless of how you interpret it, you have a chance to win a Ribbon Carousel if you play!

Here is my Thanksgiving card~

I stamped my Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Decorative Frame and cut it out with the matching die.  I layered lots of little leaves and branches on the frame and then added a circular sentiment from snss's Vintage Postcard set.  A button and some yummy linen thread finish of the frame.  For the large mat, I distressed the edges, sponged on some brown color over a piece of drywall tape for texture, sponged with distress ink and spritzed on some color using a color spritzed and marker.  My next panel was embossed with a wood grain embossing folder and sponged with distress ink.  I added a piece of burlap ribbon and the decorated frame to this panel.

Feels Like Fall

Hello, friends!
It is absolutely gorgeous weather here in St. Louis this weekend, and I plan on taking full advantage of it and getting outside.  In between errands this morning, I worked in a little time to get inky.  Williams Sonoma is the inspiration site today on SCS (see the Inspiration Challenge) and the Timeless Tuesday Challenge at Flourishes is to use dry embossing on our card.  Here is what I came up with~

I used an image from the Season of Thanks set and colored it with Prismacolor Pencils.  I love gray and orange together, so these two photos- here and here- from Williams Sonoma served as my inspiration.
I embossed the Very Vanilla panel with the striped ef, to simulate the siding in the photo of the wreath.  I embossed the Basic Gray cs with the wood grain ef to simulate the gray hutch in the second photo (cycling photo at the top of the screen).
