Watercolor Oceans

It has been a while since I have done a challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs, but after picking up a few more of their stamps at a local scrapbook convention, I felt it was time to get back into the groove.  It really does feel good to be stamping again.
This week's challenge is to use 3 or more stamps on a card.  That is quite a challenge for me, but with my new "The Sea" stamp and "Count the Waves" set, it was pretty easy.  I used these 2 sets and added "Keep My Lamp Burning" to the card as well.

Now my son thinks this card is amazing, but it really is pretty simple.  I colored The Sea stamp with Stampin' Up markers-More Mustard, Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, Basic Gray, Wild Wasabi- and also added Not Quite Navy.  I then Spritzed it with a water bottle (this is called faux watercolor technique) and stamped.  I repeated this with the lighthouse from Keep My Lamp Burning-stamped in Midnight Muse. The Sky is lightly sponged with Marigold Morning. I cut out the lighthouse and popped it up on dimensionals, although it is hard to see this in the photo.  The card base is Buckaroo Blue.
I thought this was going to be daunting, but it turned out to be a fun and easy card to make.  I can see this in Father's Day, masculine birthday...Hmmm, lots of possibilities!
Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out my blog.  Have a very blessed week!

Burning CASE

This week's ODBD challenge is to CASE a card from a favorite designer.  There are so many talented designers to choose from that I have had to CASE more than one.  But Angie Crockett is my fave, and here is a first CASE of her beautiful work.  This also fits the criteria over at OWH; there is a virtual card party going on while many are on a cruise, so this card works great for the "Nautical" challenge.
ODBD Shining the Light Challenge Winner!
Card ingredients include:
Stamps-Keep My Lamp Burning-ODBD
Paper-SU So Saffron, Very Vanilla, Naturals Ivory; dp Basic Grey
Other-Brown Grosgrain ribbon, spellbinder, dimensionals, bronze pearls(Recollections)

I kept Angie's layout, used a spellbinder for the image and stamped the sentiment to the right of the image.  I changed the stamp set, the spellbinder shape and the color scheme.  I did not do paper piercing.  I sponged as Angie did, but I sponged a sunset background vs just sponging the edges.  I finished the card with 3 pearls as Angie did.  Thanks for all of your inspiration Angie!

Lighthouse Challenge

It is great spending the day doing what you love- so here is another card, another post.  I look forward to Our Daily Bread Design challenges every Saturday, and today was no exception.  Today's challenge #95 is to CASE another crafter that we admire.  Well, frankly, I admire all of the designers/team members at ODBD.  So, this is a challenge picking out who to CASE!  I am sure I will CASE more than one before the week is over!  Also, over at Stampin Sisters in Christ, the challenge this week is to show who you are/our stamping style.  I have been avoiding the challenge as I couldn't really figure out my style.  Then as I looked through the ODBD designers' blogs and galleries and realized what I was drawn to from the beginning.  I love that a card does not need an image- a scripture verse can say so much more than any beautifully colored image.  Not that I don't like images (LOL!) but I always go back to scripture surrounded by beautiful papers and ribbons.  Sorry for the long windedness-
I chose to CASE Betty Wright.  Cardstock is basic gray and whisper white from SU.  Yellow cs is unknown.  The dp is Echo Park.  Spellbinders are used as well as Sizzix and CB embossing folders.  2 different types of yellow ribbon are used.  The scripture (well, it isn't really scripture, but about faith) is, of course, Our Daily Bread Designs- Full of Grace- Light, and the background image is also ODBD-Keep My Lamp Burning.  The image is stamped in Bordering Blue from SU.  The small compass on the bow is from an old SU set.  Adhesive rhinestones are from Recollections.  Oh, and the sentiment is stamped in basic gray and then embossed in clear ep.
Thanks so much for stopping by and as always your comments and constructive criticism are always appreciated!
