Grateful For Fall

Hello, everyone!  It has truly turned to autumn weather this weekend.  I have finally turned the furnace on and it has gone into the 30s at night.  The trees are starting to take on yellows and oranges.
 This weekend at SCS,  a wonderful tutorial for the most magical leaf was posted.  This tutorial, by Debbie, is great fun to do and not hard at all.  I encourage you to hop over and check it out.  My sketch for this card is based on the sketch at MOJO Monday this week.

 The colors for this card are for the challenge at Pals Paper Art this week.

What  a stunning combination of colors!  For this card I used-

Below is a close-up of the leaf, which looks like a ceramic piece!  This is just a fantastic technique!

Here is my take on this sketch-

Early Flakes

For this card, I used Verve's Glad Tidings stamp set and matching snowflake dies.  The papers are Crumb Cake, Whisper White, and the wonderful, new Candlelight dsp.  The flakes are inked in Early Espresso.  I also used pearls, polka dot ef and white craft ink.  I am so sad that the craft ink pad did not serve me well here!  Time for a new pad.  The circle panel and the die cut flakes are popped up on dimensionals.

Musical Sketch to Start the Week

Happy October!  Fall is just rolling right along; it is hard to believe that Halloween is this month and that means that Thanksgiving is right round the corner!   I had "fall on the brain" when I sat down to stamp today; earthy colors came to mind.  This card is for 2 challenges this week, ODBD's challenge to use a musical element on the card.  The sketch is from Retro Sketches.

                                                                     Soulful Chickadee

I just love this little chickadee from ODBD and he has just become a whole lot easier for me to cut out as I finally got the matching die; while I actually like fussy cutting, it is really nice and QUICK to use the die. To make this card I used:

It's a good day when you are  crafting enough to have to tack on an edit to your blog post!  This card is for the Featured Stamper challenge at SCS and for the Colour Q challenge this week.  What a gorgeous palette of colors!

My finished card below-

Contemporary Mums

While this card did not come together too easily, I do like the end product.  I started by spritzing Rich Razzleberry onto my Whisper White cardstock.  This panel is layered onto Cajun Craze (I do not have Dusty Durango) which is layered onto a Soft Suede card base.  The stamped flowers are the centers from the Mixed Bunch set.  The butterflies are in Cajun Craze and Pumpkin Pie and are cut from the Beautiful Wings embossit.  The large Pumpkin Pie flower is punched from the Blossom punch and embossed with the polka dot ef.  The next layer of the flower is a Really Rust scallop circle followed by a 1" circle punched from Razzleberry dsp.  The leaves are stamped in Soft Suede on Soft Suede with a Verve stamp (Bloom and Grow) and die cut with its matching die. The sentiment is stamped in Soft Suede.

Inspirational Challenge

I love the Inspiration Challenges at SCS.  They tend to take you where you would normally not go and inspire creativity.  This week was no exception.  When I first saw the inspiration web site, I was hesitant.  But, ith an open mind, I found a photo that I liked, and created.  My inspiration photo is below-

                                 


                                    

Here is the card that came from this botanical print, above-

Most of this is punches; only the sentiment is stamped in white craft ink.  The sentiment is from the Word Play set.  The card base is Basic Black and the Wild Wasabi leaves are cut with the Little Leaves die.  The white flowers are punched from the Bitty Punch Pack and a yellow-colored pearl sits in the center of each flower.  The card is scored around the edge and has 3 score lines to the black layer at the top of the card.  Daffodil Delight ribbon finishes off the card.

Simply Scored, Chocolate Chip CS, Scalloped Edge Punch

A Clean and Simple Monday

Although I should really be cutting paper for a card club tomorrow, I really wanted to play in the CAS challenge at Splitcoast Stampers today.  Today's challenge is based on a great layout.  It seems like I never have enough thank you cards, so I opted to make this autumn thank you-

Very simple and a one-layer (sort of) card, but I think it  packs a big punch!  The card base is Naturals Ivory.  The leaf is from the Gently Falling set and  stamped in Stazon brown, More Mustard, Cajun Craze, and Elegant Eggplant.  The sentiment is from the Curly Cute set and is stamped in Chocolate Chip.  The "little extras" include the scoring behind and below the leaf as well as the linen thread loops behind the leaf.  The leaf is popped up on dimensionals.

Sunshine and Weddings

What a glorious day today!  Even though I wanted to stay in and stamp, I grabbed my son, the camera, and the dog and headed to the park for a walk.  I started taking pictures and then, horrors of horrors, I realized I had left the photo card in the computer!  Oh well, plenty more fall days to come; unfortunately I have no pictures to share of today though!

Today's Featured Stamper over at Splitcoast Stampers has an amazing gallery.  This is my take of her gorgeous card (my first attempt did not turn out like I had envisioned it-I hate it when that happens!).  I embossed the Whisper White paper with the Vintage Wallpaper ef.  The label is from the Everything Eleanor stamp set and the sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set. 
The label is stamped in basic gray and fussy cut.  The sentiment is stamped in Stazon black, punched out with the large oval punch and matted with a scallop oval punch in black. 
Both the embossed panel and the label are popped up on dimensionals. 
Simple, easy and elegant!

Virtual Stamp Night (or day)

Today I decided to participate in Splitcoast Stamper's Virtual Stamp Night. I have not done this before-probably because it typically takes me hours to make 1 card!  But today I am trying to keep up with the 45 minute time limit.  Whew!  Not easy to do!

This challenge was to try a new  (at least to me) technique, the Glitter Window.  This card uses 3 stamp sets-Lovely as a Tree, Tiny Tags and Peaceful Wishes (retired).  The card base and ribbon are Cherry Cobbler.  Other paper used is Whisper White, Very Vanilla, River Rock, Chocolate Chip and the newest Christmas dsp, Candlelight Christmas. The evergreen is stamped in Wild Wasabi and the window that frames it is made with the SU apothecary framelit. I clear embossed and hand cut the pinecones.  There is also Cherry Cobbler baker's twine, a Vintage Faceted button and a tag punched with the jewelry tag punch.  Believe it or not, there is also clear packing tape and Crystal Snow glitter.

Back again with a little MOJO-the  MOJO Monday sketch that is-

 What a fun and versatile sketch!  I wanted to use warm, fall colors as well as one of my new stamp sets from Stampin' Up, Trust God.

Paper used is Very Vanilla, Patio Party dsp, Candlelight Christmas dsp, and SU Salebration dsp.  The sentiment is framed with the Stampin' Up embossing frame.  Embellishments include a new SU faux wood button with linen thread and leaves from Lovely as a Tree stamped on Naturals Ivory paper, colored with reinkers and aqua painter and hand cut.  I used the Simply Scored tool to score around the edge of the card base.
Oranges, golden yellows and browns-I am now ready for fall!

First Day of Fall

What a gorgeous day we have here in Missouri, perfect for ushering in the fall season!  Even though it is just fall, it is not too early for Christmas cards and the Merry Monday Challenge and OWH provided just the right inspiration today. 

I admired this stamp all last year and finally broke down and got it.  It is from Verve's Glad Tidings set.  The image is stamped on Naturals White cs with Stazon black and watercolored with Gumball Green and Real Red Stampin' Up ink and aquapainter.  The image was mounted Naturals White and Gumball Green cs that has been scored with the Simply Scored tool.  The card base is Lucky Limeade.  The main image and sentiment are popped up on dimensionals.
