Spellbinders August Card Kit

 Hello, Hello!

August.  Can you believe it??  I can't believe I have to go back to work this month.  The summer flew by, but, I think I say that every year.  

With the beginning of the month comes new stamp releases and new monthly kits!  Spellbinders has a Card Kit of the Month.  Now I will be the first to admit, I have always been leery of kits, wondering if there would be stuff I liked etc.  I decided to give the Card Kit Club a try. 

 

I was pleasantly surprised at the VARIETY!  stamps, dies, patterned paper, di cut shapes, puffy stickers and other embellishments, card bases, cardstock, envelopes and even adhesives! So without further ado, here is what I did with the Spellbinders August Card Kit. 

I love the adorable pencil stamp! 

Using my MISTI,  I stamped the pencil stamp with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink to make a frame for the sentiment and collage of die cut shapes.  The pencils were colored in with Copics.  This sentiment was just perfect for my teacher friend who gives her all to her students.  This kit even came with the fire engine red sequins! 

Yep, this adorable easel is a stamp, as is the heart.  The easel was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copics.  Then the heart was stamped in a pretty coral color and the whole thing was fussy cut out.  

I used a piece of floral patterned paper from the kit and die cut a circle from it.  I used the Nestabilities Hemstitch Circle Dies to do this (NOT in kit).  The paper was adhered to the card base using craft foam and then the easel was popped up over the circle with the foam adhesive that comes in the kit.  The sentiment was heat embossed with Alabaster white embossing powder on the navy cardstock.  I added a bit of gold mirror cardstock (yes, it is in the kit as well) behind the larger of the two sentiment strips and popped them both up on foam adhesive.  I finished it off with a sweet coral red foam heart.  

If you are a die lover, this is where it gets super fun!  The paint palette and paint brushes were die cut out from white cs and colored with Copics.  I used the Gold Mirrored cs for the ferrules on the brushes.  Super fun!  Again, used a piece of patterned paper on the card base and then popped up the palette and brush with the supplied foam tape.  The sentiment was heat embossed on the navy cardstock and another brush adhered to the card.  

And lastly, these adorable paint tubes! 

The tubes where die cut out from white cs and then colored with Copics.  the caps were die cut from the Gold Mirrored cardstock.  The background panel was done using the direct to paper technique.  I love it when things come out exactly the way you saw them in your head! 

The tubes were adhered to the background panel with the supplied adhesive, then the sentiment was stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink.  The puffy 'friend' sticker and puffy heart sticker were added. 

 

There you have it!  4 very different cards, using lots of different supplies in the Card Kit of the Month.

To summarize, is there variety?  Yes!  Is there something for everyone?  Yes!  Is it worth it?  Yes!
