Sew it Up with Splitcoaststampers!

Good Morning! 
Coming to you again from San Antonio, Texas with a card and a plug for Splitcoaststamper's annual Dare To Get Dirty Challenges.  My challenge today for SCS members is to sew on your card, whether it be with a sewing machine, by hand or faux stitching with your paper piercer.  Why not head over to SCS where, as a member of SCS, you can play in all of the 40 plus challenges and have an opportunity to win lots of great prizes! I used a fun set I found in my LSS by Pink Persimmon.  I finally took the plunge and colored up my first people image with Copics.  The dress and purse are paper pieced with dp from MME. I made the bow with a strip of muslin.

A Heartfelt Gift Card Holder

Hello Everyone!
It is amazing to me how fast Wednesdays come around!  Of course, Wednesday means I  have another Heartfelt Creations project to share with you.  With the holidays fast approaching (hard to believe, isn't it?) I decided to make a gift card holder using a stamp from the gorgeous Burst of Splendor Collection.

I used a gold and white color scheme to give my gift card holder an elegant look.  The image is embossed in gold, and I have used brushed gold cs and gold ribbon.  Detailed instructions on how to make this gift card holder can be found below or on the Heartfelt Creations blog where you will also find many more beautiful projects from the rest of the Design Team to inspire you.

Instructions-

Score a 5 ½ x 8 ½ piece of white cs at the 2” and the 6” mark. Fold at the 2” mark and using Scor Tape, tape the two sides to the back panel. This will be the gift card pocket. Fold at the 6” mark. Cut a piece of gold cs to mat the top flap; adhere to flap. Cut a piece of white cs to mat on top of the gold mat. Dry emboss and adhere to gold mat. Die cut 2 Oval Windows from white cs. Loosely trace around the oval on brushed gold cs. Sandwich the gold cs in between the 2 white Oval Window die cuts and adhere all together. Trim any excess gold cs the hangs over the edge of Oval Window die cuts. Set aside.

Stamp floral image in Versamark on white cs and emboss with gold ep. Using a Spellbinder Label 9 die and the “Outside the Box” technique described here, die cut out the image (the leaves will be “outside the box”). Stamp the main flower 3 more times in Versamark and heat emboss with gold ep. Fussy cut out the leaves, leaving a little bit extra cs at the end of the leaves that will tuck under the flower. Die cut out the top of the flower. Lastly, die cut the entire flower with the exception of the leaves. I lightly molded the fussy cut flower parts. Layer the leaves on top of the original image using 1 dimensional to pop them up. Layer the full bloom on top of the original image, this time doubling up the dimensionals so they are twice as thick. Lastly, using 1 thickness of dimensionals, adhere the top of the flower to the layered image.

Wrap organza ribbon around top flap and adhere to center of card front (main image panel will cover it up). Adhere the Oval Window/Gold cs piece to the top flap. Adhere the floral image panel to the Oval Window.

Time in Texas

Hello Everyone!
This is a very short post as I currently am in the great state of Texas visiting a friend.  I made this card right before leaving town; I think I bit off a bit more than I could chew on this card!  I really wanted to try a monochromatic color scheme and wanted to give this postcard scene a vintage look.  It was definitely tricky to color with all the loops and curves in the gorgeous frame!  I added Stampendous Crystal Snow glitter to the scene, some dry embossed cardstock and a bow to finish this simple card.

Inspired by Lavender and Gray

Today's card uses an exquisite dahlia image from the latest Heartfelt Creations release, Burst of Splendor.

Instructions-

Fold 5 ½ x 8 ½ piece of gray cs in half for card base. Cut vanilla mat for card base. Stamp image in all over pattern using Versamark on vanilla mat. Emboss with clear embossing powder. Stamp main dahlia image with Memento ink, color with Prismacolor pencils and fussy cut out. Stamp 2 large open leaf images onto vanilla cs using gray ink. Using the bold large leaf image and a stamp-a-ma-jig, Stamp directly over the 2 open leaf images using Versamark. Clear emboss. Die cut these 2 leaf images out.

Cut a white strip of paper approximately 1 ½ inches in diameter by the length of your vanilla mat. Die cut 4 scalloped edges of the gift ensemble box die in gray and use these to create decorative edges on the white strip. Add a piece of white ribbon across this white strip and adhere to vanilla mat. Adhere vanilla mat to card base. Adhere flower and leaves as shown. Stamp sentiment on white cs and cut to tag size and tuck under flower image on right side.

Back in Black

Hello Again!
No, I am not using ACDC as inspiration for my cards!  The Stamps and Scraps Challenge at Flourishes is "Black and White", so I got out my Fanciful Flourishes set and came up with this elegant and CAS Christmas card~

I stamped the flourished fleur de lis 5 times in a star shape to make my snowflake.  I outlined many of the flourishes with Dazzling Details, but unfortunately you cannot see the pretty shimmer here.  My hoarded May Arts ribbon made the perfect bow!  I stamped my sentiment with a sentiment from the Holida Greetings set and die cut it out with a SB die.  Finished card size is 5 1/2  x 5 1/2.
I have also combined this with the Featured Stamper challenge at SCS , where Heather Hoffman is the honoree this weekend.

When LIFE gives you Lemons, Make CARDS!  

Hello!   I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.  I spent the morning with a friend at our beautiful Missouri Botanical Gardens and then went out for a yummy lunch.  Now back to all things crafty!
  I have been lacking in MOJO these last few days but  I got crafty late last night and  played along with several challenges.  This card is for the Flourishes Designer Focus-CASE this Designer.  This week the focus is on Heather Jensen.  She can do amazing things with dp and a sewing machine.  It is also for Great Impressions' Anything Goes challenge and the Inspiration Challenge at SCS today, using a site called Persona Jewelry for inspiration.

Small Flourishes

Good Morning! 
I am trying to take a bit of a crafty break, but wanted to play along with the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge this week.  I am always admiring their DT work, but never participating in challenges, so, as it is Flourishes' birthday week, I decided this was a good time to start!
This week's challenge is to "make it mini"; in other words,  to make a set of 3 x 3" cards.  I went CAS on this challenge used stamps that have not seen ink~

These cards pretty much speak for themselves- no complicated instructions!  Straightforward 2 step stamping was used for the wings.  To get the black body, the wings were masked off and the butterfly was stamped again in black.  The butterflies were fussy cut out and added to the white cardstock which was stamped with the border stamp 3 times.

A Heartfelt Wednesday

Hello Everyone and welcome to another Wednesday of Heartfelt Creations inspiration!  I have two cards to share with you today.  The first uses The gorgeous, latest release, Burst of Splendor-

I colored all of my images with Copics, used the "outside the box" technique to die cut out the flower, and used the scalloped edges of the Gift Ensemble Box to create a scalloped border around the image panel.  The pink colored dp mat is dry embossed with the Stampin' Up honeycomb ef. 
The next card uses two images, one from the Gateway to the Seasons Collection and the other from the Sweet Serenity Collection.

For the All Seasons Gazebo, I first watercolored it using reinkers and an aquabrush and then, once dry, went back in and added shading and shadowing with Prismacolors.  The bird image and the floret are both colored with Copics.

Instructions-

Fold 5.5 X 8.5 piece of More Mustard CS in half for card base. Adhere white mat to base; dry emboss and then adhere designer paper to white mat. Cut out Burst of Splendor journaling block and mat it with white cs. Die cut edge of the Gift Ensemble Box Die 5 times in Razzleberry cs; these pieces will be used as the decorative border around the journaling box. Adhere these pieces to edge the journaling block. You will need to cut and piece the border trim.

Stamp floral image on white cs with Memento Black ink and color with Copic markers. Using the Outside the Box technique (see tutorial at Heartfelt Creations Blog), die cut out the image. Sponge die cut background while paper is still in die. Stamp leaves with Memento black ink and color with Copic markers. Die cut with new Classic Leaf dies. Stamp another floral image and color just the flower head with Copics and fussy cut out. Using a dimensional, adhere second flower image on top of flower on main image panel.

Adhere main floral image panel to bottom left corner of journaling box. Adhere journaling box to card base, offsetting it to the right. Adhere leaves around and under the main image. Stamp sentiment and cut out, Sponge edges with More Mustard ink. Adhere to journaling block in upper right corner. Add pearls to upper right corner. Add Dazzling Diamonds to flower center.

Instructions

Fold 11 x 4.25” piece of white cs in half for card base. Add green mat to card base. Add white mat to green mat. Stamp gazebo image in Stazon black on heavy cardstock and watercolor image-I used reinkers and an aqua brush. Once image is dry, go back in and add shadows and shading with Prismacolor pencils. Trim image on bottom and 2 sides. Fussy cut top of image out. Layer image on Soft Sky mat. Adhere image to card.

Stamp bird image and 2 vintage floret images on white cardstock, using Memento ink. Color images with Copics. Fussy cut out the bird image. Die cut out the flowers; mold the flowers and adhere the petals to the flower on the bird image. Die cut out a flourish in green from the Twisted Metal and Tags die set and cut in half. Stamp the sentiment in black and hand cut out. Adhere the sentiment to a strip of purple cs. Arrange sentiment block, bird image, and flourish pieces at bottom of card and adhere-the bird is adhered with dimensionals. Add a pearl to the flower center.

Hello Everyone and welcome to another week of inspiration from The Ribbon Carousel Crew! 
This month we are celebrating! In particular, we are celebrating our heritage, so show us your country pride, celebrate your heritage or just celebrate! Play along with us and you could win a Ribbon Carousel!
As those of us from the U.S. just got through celebrating the 4th of July, we have seen plenty of red, white and blue in the galleries lately!  While I love these patriotic colors, I decided to go a different route, and chose neutrals~

 My main image is from Our Craft Lounge.  The ink blot is from Stampin' Up's new Gorgeous Grunge set. I wanted to evoke a feel of 1776 on the card, so I used a strip of muslin to create a ruffle, hopefully resembling the cloth/clothing of the time period.  I wrapped some linen thread round the center of the ruffle.

Lovely and CAS

Hello, friends!  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  I got out in the sunshine and did some yard work, did some crafty shopping and enjoyed meals out with friends.  I worked on some crafting as well; I think I may be getting some mojo back!
I wanted to play with new Stampin' Up toys and I also wanted to do another color challenge from the Summer Card Camp Online Class.  I chose gray, pink, white and light blue colors to work with.

I really like this new image from the Hello, Lovely set and used it to stamp a patterned background.  I stamped my flower from Mixed Bunch in Blushing Bride and then stamped my sentiment in Basic Gray on top of the flower and punched it out.  I added a strip of Basic Gray cs across the lower portion of the card and added a piece of Basic Gray satin ribbon (retired) over that.  2 pearls and a white Little Leaves die cut finish off the card.

Mixed Media Brights

Hello!  I felt like getting artsy tonight so I combined Splitcoaststamper's Mix-Ability challenge with color combos and a sketch from Summer Card Camp 2 online class.

Today's mixed media challenge was to use a paper napkin or tissue on your card.  I found some wonderful bright summer napkins at Target. This one happened to be a picture of a sliced grapefruit.  I used my Mod Podge to adhere it to the cardstock, wrinkling it up as I went.  After it was dry, I used dry wall tape and sponged on some craft white ink.  Lastly, I stamped my flourishes on in teal blues, although they look more green when stamped on the yellow and orange. 
The main image is stamped in Color Box mixed media ink and heat embossed with black ep.  Infortunately, I have no idea of the manufacturer of this image.

A Banner Outside the Box

Hello Again!  I decided to sneak in one more card tonight, again working on thinking "outside the box" for Summer Card Camp 2.  I used the third sketch of the week, and again, the color combo, this time leaving out the turquoise.  I really like this sketch as Jennifer McGuire showed us a wonderful twist on a banner card. 

This probably looks like a regular banner card, but the banner is a flap that actually lifts up and is the "card front".  For the sake of a decent photo, I used a bit of non permanent adhesive to hold the flap down. 
I took a little bit from each day this week to make this card.  I was inspired the Jennifer's card from Monday, I was inspired by Tami's  use of a stencil on Tuesday, and I was inspired by the embossing on vellum today.  And my pearl is colored with a sharpie, as the bling was colored with a Copic on Wednesday!

10 Minutes???

I have to admit, the thought of a 10 minute card is, well, unthinkable!  But that is what we were asked to do today for my Summer Card Camp.  And, while I was doubtful, knowing how I work, I gave it my best shot.  Sadly, I did not pass the test!  I went 8 minutes over- shhhh!  I also followed another sketch for the week and the color challenge.
 

This is a bit unusual for me.  First of all, it has to be the quickest card I ever made!  Second, the only stamp on this card is the sentiment.  I let the embossing, die cuts and patterned paper do the talking.

Baby Brights

Hello and Happy Wednesday! 
Well, as if I did not have enough to do, I made a spontaneous decision to sign up for the Summer Card Camp 2 through Online Card Classes.  I needed a little (or a lot) stretching to push me to try new and sometimes uncomfortable and unfamiliar things. 
This week we have 3 sketches we are focusing on as well as a color combo.  In Stampin' Up lingo the colors are Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise and Melon Mambo.  Today I found some time to try out a sketch I would never even think to try!
 Here is my card-

This card and its components changed many times before I settled on what I wanted to do.  Unfortunately, some things were glued and/or sewed down already when I would have preferred to change it up!  You think I would learn...I added the doodling around my rectangles at the very end as an after thought.  I felt they really needed something, but I wish I had doodled in the beginning.  
All in all, I like this card; the colors are ones I would probably never have put together and the sketch would have never entered my mind!  So I think I was stretched!

I have to admit, this is one of my favorite, if not my favorite, collections from Heartfelt Creations!  It is just stunning!  Here is my card for this week~

 I am just loving the leaf images with matching dies; no more fussy cutting the leaves!  And, they come in a variety of sizes to go with whatever size floral image you have.
My card is pretty simple.  I stamped my main image on Crumb Cake cardstock and colored it with Prismacolor Pencils.  I did the same with the large leaf image and then used the die to cut it out.  Detailed instructions are below.

Instructions-

Cut 4.25 x 11 piece of Crumb Cake cs and fold in half for card base. Stamp image in corner of another piece of Crumb Cake cs in black ink. Heat set ink and color image with Prismacolor pencils. Trim image down to approximately 3.75 x 5. Stamp leaf image in black ink and heat set. Color with Prismacolor pencils and die cut out with matching die. Cut one leaf off from the very bottom of the stem and attach it to lower left corner of large bloom. Attach remain stem/leaves from behind image panel. Adhere ribbon around top of image panel and adhere image panel to card base. Stamp sentiment onto image panel. Make a bow and adhere it to the piece of ribbon.

Heartfelt and Vintage

Hello!  I am back from vacation and ready with another Wednesday of Heartfelt Creations inspiration!
 This week I challenged myself to do a collage style card.  I think collage style either comes natural to you, or it doesn't!  And for me it doesn't so I have not done them before.  I tend to be very structured, so the free form nature of collage tends to elude me.

Instructions-

Fold a piece of 11” x 5.5” piece of light blue paper in half to make a 5.5” square card base. Cut a brown mat and adhere to card base. Cut a Daphne Designer Paper mat and emboss. Using your finger, smudge on some white craft paint on various spots on the dp mat. Lightly ink the edges of the mat with Old Paper Distress Ink. Adhere piece of lace trim to right side of card. Adhere doily to top left corner of card.

Stamp birdhouse image in Memento Brown on white cs and color with Copics. Using Early Espresso ink and the Large Elegant Word Background image, stamp off once and then stamp image across colored bird house image. Apply Old Paper Distress Ink to image. Distress edges of paper , bend and fold corners and separate paper layers for more distressed look. Finished image size is approximately 2.25” x 4.25”.

Stamp bird image in Memento Black on white cs and color with Copics Fussy cut out image. Stamp one of the flowers from bird image a second time, color and fussy cut out. Stamp Vintage Florets in Memento Brown ink, color with Copics and die cut out. Mold and assemble florets. Lightly sponge florets with Old Paper Distress Ink. Stamp Large single leaf on green cs. Die cut out and sponge edges with green ink.

To assemble, cut one of the Decorative Panels from From the Daphne designer paper collection, lightly ink the edges with the Old Paper distress ink and stamp your sentiment in brown (assuring that you will not cover up your sentiment with your bird house image when you layer that on). Adhere the sentiment panel to the card base and the birdhouse panel to the left of that, overlapping the sentiment panel, but not the sentiment. Adhere the bird image in front of the bird house and popped up on dimensionals. Add second floral image behind bird image. Place flowers and leaves on card as shown. Die cut a Decorative Oval Window from green cs and sponge the embossed areas with Old Olive ink. Cut the frame apart and use the flourish pieces along side the bird house image and across the top of the sentiment panel. Lastly, add pearl flourish.
