Rest for the New Year

 Hello!

Well, we are almost to 2024.

Do you do New Year's Resolutions?  I guess I do, even though I do not call them that as it seems to set me up for failure.  For the coming year I hope to craft more, study the Bible more (starting with the book of Matthew), and eat healthier. Crafting more should not be a problem. ;)

Today's card is a mixed media project.  I reeeeallly love the SnSS Jumbled Hexies stencil.  I started with sponging 3 Distress Oxide inks on my cs.  I used so many different colors that I really don't know for sure what I used and where.

I kept the inks fairly light in color.  Next, I placed the Jumbled Hexies stencil, added translucent embossing paste and then sprinkled chunky gold embossing powder over the wet paste.  I heated the powder to melt it. While waiting for the paste to dry, I stamped the bird image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, which is from the SnSS Songbirds Stamp Set, and colored it with Copics.

The bird was fussy cut out.  When the embossing paste was dry, I sponged more distress oxide inks over the entire panel until I had the desired effect. Then I wiped the excess ink off of the embossed areas.  For depth, I splattered water onto the panel.  Lastly, I splattered the panel with white acrylic paint.  The sentiment, from the Be Still and Know stamp set, was stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink.

I am linking up to the following challenges!

Alphabet Challenge- T is for texture
Triple B Challenge, with my Bird and Blooms.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy New Year!

Rest for the New Year

 Hi Friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!  I spent mine at home with C-VID but it was a great way to just relax!

It is currently raining, but I am anxiously awaiting the rain turning to snow- if the forecast is correct.  In the meantime, I have moved on from Christmas and winter to flowers, birds and butterflies.  I love this new stamp I got from Sweet n Sassy Stamps.

I stamped the collage image from the Botanical Collages Stamp Set.  After stamping it in the center of the cs, I lined up the image to the right of and then to the left of the center image to stretch the image across the entirety of the card.  Next, I stamped the image (focusing just on the butterfly) on a separate piece of cs, colored it with Copics, then fussy cut it out.  I also added some color to the main image on the card.

I stamped the sentiment from the Faith Phrases Stamp Set onto a peach colored cs and then cut out a sentiment strip of the top portion of the sentiment.  Next, I stamped the sentiment below the butterfly.  The sentiment was finished off by adhering the peach sentiment atop of the sentiment on the card panel.

The plan was to keep the card clean and simple but I decided it needed more.  I sponged color all around the edges of the card panel using Distress Ink in Speckled Egg.  I added a bit of black spatter and finished things off with SSS Moonshine sequins.

I am linking up to Triple B Challenge with my butterfly and the Tuesday Morning Sketches Challenge, Anything Goes.

I will be back tomorrow or Friday with more from this stamp set.

Thanks for visiting!

Christmas Prophecy

 Hello All!

I wanted to give scripture writing a go and I thought I found the perfect writing plan- Christmas Prophecy-  And it is a great plan, but I must confess, I really could not keep up with it.  I had a lot of catching up to do last night.

Regardless, it got me in the Word.

I would love to do a study on prophecy sometime.  For now, I am reading all of the prophecies surrounding Christ's birth.

For the title of my page I used SnSS Lollipop Alpha.  The word 'Christmas' comes from the Christmas Pine Stamp Set.  I framed the pages with the small pine branch from the Christmas Pine Stamp Set.  On the first page I embellished a bit with some sprigs of holly from the Holly Christmas Stamp Set stamped on heavy weight printer paper and colored with Copics.

Each book of each scripture verse is stamped with the Books of the Bible Stamp Set.  I love this set!

This may be my last post before Christmas, so I wish all of you a Very Merry Christmas!
