Things with Wings

Hello and Happy Mother's Day!

Quick post for me to share a card made for the Things with Wings challenge at Stamplorations.

I really have enjoyed a stencil technique that Jennifer McGuire shared a few weeks ago.  I used it to usher in summer here in St Louis- yes, we kind of skipped spring.
In addition to the stencil I have used three dies to make this simple card.
The Stamplorations Challenge is going on all month~

I am also linking up to Just Us Girls Challenge this week; the challenge is stencils.

Another Valentine

Yep!  Lots of Valentine cards being made over here.  :)

I once again have used this cute Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Set for this card~

I created a background panel with a stencil and then used my SugarPea Designs Heart Journal Die to die cut the row of hearts.  I used this month's SugarPea Designs sketch for the card~ Edit- well, I am not doing too well on getting in on time for challenges- this sketch challenge has closed as well.  :D

I am also linking up to Cupcake Inspirations Challenge

I am also linking up to the Tic Tac Toe Challenge- Free- die cut - heart, as well as sentiment- red- heart.

Vintage Power Poppy

Hello and Happy Monday!

I am a bit blue today as summer is officially over- it is back to work I go. Are the kids back to school where you are?  Well, I may be blue today, but I was red last week, working with this floral image from Power Poppy!
I have played a lot with my new stamps from Power Poppy.  This set is not a new set, although it is new to me.  It has been calling my name for a long time, I think because it is very nostalgic.  You see, my mother planted geraniums every summer when I was growing up.  Actually, I think she still does, LOL!  These images bring back memories of childhood.

This image is from the Geraniums Take Two stamp set.  It is colored with Copics.  I used a Zig Zag Stitched Rectangle die from SugarPea Designs for the ecru panel.

A Little Inspiration with the Challenge

Hello and Happy August!

School is just around the corner; I hope everyone is enjoying their remaining lazy days of summer!
Today's challenge at The Challenge is an inspiration photo.  I picked up on the colors in this photo.

Here is your inspiration~

There are lots of ways to interpret this photo; it is very busy!
I used SugarPea Designs Banner dies, Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles dies, and Celebrate All Things Stamp Set.  The Balloon die is from Lawn Fawn.
Check out the rest of the amazing inspiration from the team HERE and then link up your card!

The Challenge- Colors!

Hello, Hello!

Happy summer everyone!  I am back from vacation and ready to hit the ' To Do' list, LOL!
But not before getting out the Copics for this week's challenge at  The Challenge!

I love this image and love stamping her off the card front for a sense of movement.  So, almost a OLC with the exception of the thin black strips of cardstock beneath the die cut sentiment, which is one of my fave sentiment dies.  It is from SugarPea Designs.
To get the look, I die cut the word celebrate from the card front after coloring my Uptown Girl from Stamping Bella.  I then  die cut the word from a second card front sized panel, using the already cut negative space on the card front for positioning purposes.  I sandwiched a piece of clear cardstock in between the card front and the second plain card front panel, adhering the card front, second uncolored panel and clear cardstock together.  This gave me something to adhere my 'celebrate' die cut to and keep the one layer look as well as the clear or 'see through' look on my card.
Clear as mud, I am sure.
Wink of Stella and SSS sequins add just the right amount of sparkle.

Now it is your turn!  I hope you can join us this week!  Check out all of the amazing inspiration from the rest of the team and then link up your creation HERE!

And a Partridge in a Pear Tree

Hey Everyone!

Just a quick post to share this card I made for the latest sketch at SugarPea Designs.  I have been itching to ink up this image from my newest SPD set, Everyday is Christmas

My MOJO has been on vacation again, but I was determined to use at least one the the sketches for September.  The image is colored with Copics.  The ornate mat for the image panel is from Crafter's Companion and was gifted to me by me sweet friend, Giovana.  Thanks, Giovana!

A SugarPea Designs Good Bye

Hello Everyone and Happy Wednesday!

You may have noticed that there was no new SugarPea Designs Challenge last week.  This was due to the new releases that were being previewed all week.  I hope you had a chance to check it out!  There are some adorable new sets- can't wait to get mine!
On another note, a sadder one (at least for me), this is my last challenge card for SPD as a DT member.  Our term is up and a new group will be inspiring you next week.

Once my MOJO returned, this card came together super fast and easy.  I used this week's sketch~

This background was made using the shaving cream technique.  I made it over the summer at a crafty retreat.  I then colored the image and cropped much of it out to come up with a smaller circle to fit the sketch.  This sweet stork is from the Bundle of Joy Stamp Set.
The background panel is cut with- you guessed it- the Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles.  They have to be one of my best purchases, LOL!  The sentiment was stamped on a banner cut with the Stitched Flags Die Set.
Check out the rest of the team's amazing inspiration HERE on the blog and then why not leave them a little love and say good bye as this is their last challenge as part of the team as well.
As always, if you participate in the challenge, you are entered to win a gift certificate to the SPD store!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a creative week!

SugarPea Designs Mix It Up Challenge

Hello!

Wednesday has rolled around again and I am back to school- sigh.... But, as luck would have it, there is a great new challenge up at SugarPea Designs!

This week's versatile sketch caught my eye~

I love the greenery in the Funky Wreath Spring Addition Stamp Set;  I used it to create borders along my center panel. The top and bottom panels are sponged, the sentiment heat embossed in white.  For sparkle, I added SU's Dazzling Details to the greenery.

Check out the rest of the Design Team's inspiration and then join us!  You have a chance to win a gift certificate to the SPD store with each entry.

SugarPea Designs Wednesday and Dragon

Hello and Welcome back to Wednesday and another SugarPea Design Challenge!

This week's challenge inspired me to use pattern and color- and banners.

I wanted to make a 'boy' card so used the Blow Me Away dragon and some good 'boy' colors, orange, blue and red.  The dragon is watercolored - so sorry this photographed so poorly.  It is red irl, not pinky.  Zig Zag Stitched Rectangle Dies were used to cut the panels. My banners were cut with the new Party Banner Duo Dies.  The sentiment is from the new Celebrate All the Things Stamp Set.

Mix It Up for Christmas with SugarPea Designs!

Hi All!

It is Christmas in July on my blog this week, and this week's Mix It Up Challenge was perfect for today's Christmas card~

The Inspiration photo colors are what inspired me.

One of my favorite, and I think very versatile, stamp sets from SugarPea Designs is the set, Funky Wreath All Seasons.  I stamped it in Crumb Cake and then added flowers from the Funky Wreath Spring Addition Stamp Set- yep, I said spring!  In the right color, this set works perfect for ALL seasons!
The flower centers were stamped and heat embossed with the tiny snowflake from the set, Have an Ice Day.   The background panel was also gold heat embossed with the snowflake image. Sentiment is from the Lost Without You Stamp Set.  Panels were die cut with the Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles (of course!).

Mix It Up for Christmas!

Hi All!

Wednesday has rolled around again, and with it, another Mix It Up Challenge from SugarPea Designs.  This week I used the sketch, as it is so versatile!

This has to be the most adorable shepherd out there!  He is from the Lost Without You Stamp Set.  He is colored up with Copics.  The star is embossed with gold ep.  I am kind of a bling minimalist, so I added just 3 bits of 'bling' from the Sea Spray Sparkly Shaker Mix ; hopefully they look like 3 stars in the night sky!
There is lots of fabulous inspiration from the rest of the Design Team!

Mix It Up with SugarPea Designs

Hi All!

Hope you are having a great summer!  I know I am!  Just got back from a crafty retreat in Texas.  When in Texas, a side trip to the Magnolia Silos is in order, don't you think!?  My crafty friend, Ceal, and I had a great time there! Now we are back to reality and the dog days of summer.
For this week's challenge at the SugarPea Designs Mix It Up Challenge, I used the Hot Diggity Dog Stamp Set along with a sentiment from the Twinkle Twinkle Stamp Set to make this pet sympathy card.  As you can see, I used the sketch portion of the challenge.

We hope you will join us.  Each time you play along and link up your card to the gallery, you have a chance to win a prize from SPD!  See the rules and details HERE.

There's lots more inspiration to check out from the rest of the team~

Mix It Up with SugarPea Designs and Mixed Media!

Hi All!

Wednesday has rolled around fast!  Ready for a new Mix I t Up Challenge at SugarPea Designs??

This week I used the colors in the inspiration photo, as well as a scaled down version of the sketch~

I know, it is maybe a bit of a stretch!  But it is where my mind went with this MIU challenge!
I am blessed to be heading to Texas tomorrow to a crafty retreat hosted by none other than THE amazing Lydia Fiedler.  I guess I have been anticipating all of the techniques we will be learning there, so I felt the need to play around with gesso, distress ink, Ken Oliver Colorbursts, embossing powder, Copic markers and UTEE.
Of course I also used the new 'Celebrate' SugarCuts Die from SPD and the coordinating stamp set, Celebrate All the Things.  The banner is from the new 'Party Banner Duo' SugarCuts Die Set
Then there are those Zig Zag Stitched Rectangle Dies AGAIN!  LOL!  I cannot seem to craft without them!
I hope I have inspired you to play along!  Check out the rest of the DT inspiration!

Mix It Up- Babies and SugarPea Designs!

Hello!
Wednesday means there is a new challenge up at SugarPea Designs!  I love the Mix It UP Challenge- use the sketch, use the inspiration or use both!  I used the sketch this week (guess I am on a sketch roll)~

What great inspiration this week!  I went  a little die 'heavy' this week, turning the keys in the SugarCuts Key to My Heart Die Set into a teething ring for new baby.  I was feeling pretty clever about this one, LOL! The sentiment was done with the SugarCuts Baby Diaper Pin and the Bundle of Joy Stamp Set.  I layered some pretty pink plaid and light green leaves dp with a white panel inbetween, die cut with the Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles.  Yes, I love those dies!

Check out the great inspiration from the rest of the team and then join us!

Mix It Up, Southwest Style!

Hello There!

Yep, it is Wednesday already!  That means another Mix It Up Challenge at SugarPea Designs!  I focused on the sketch this week~

As you may know, I just recently returned from the American Southwest.  One of the many things I really wanted to see were cacti- specifically Saguaro.  Well, I got what I wanted and them some.  One of the things that really amazed me, right there in the dry, hot desert, were the abundance of gorgeous flowers coloring the desert.  So, when I made this card as a thank you for an amazing friend who was our hostess for a couple of days, I wanted to capture the bright flowers of the area.  The question was HOW.
Then, I had one of those light bulb moments, LOL!  One of the dies in the Funky Wreath Spring SugarCuts Die Set was perfect as a flower petal.  I die cut the petal several times from plain 'ol computer paper and then died them pink with distress inks.  I crumpled them slightly to give them a more ruffled look.  Once dry, I assembled the flower, working around the yellow stamen, which was also made from the same single die.
I paired the flower with the cactus image from the Let's Fiesta Stamp Set.  The banners were cut using the Stitched Flags SugarCuts Dies and the background panel was dry embossed and then die cut with the Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles.  I framed the cactus image to look like a photo, using the polaroid SugarCuts Die from the Polaroid Journal Card SugarCuts Die Set.

Check out the rest of the team's fab inspiration!

Mixin' It Up with Florals and SugarPea Designs!

Hi All!

I am back from the Southwest and am happy to be crafting again!
Today's card is for the latest Mix It Up Challenge at SugarPea Designs.  Are you liking the new challenge format?  I know I am!

This week, I followed the sketch~

I really am stuck on the Funky Wreath All Seasons and Funky Wreath Spring Additions.
I used the Funky Wreath Spring Addition for this floral design.  The flowers and leaves were die cut with the coordinating Funky Wreath Spring Dies.  Sentiment is from the Feeling Sentimental Stamp Set.  My background is done with Colorburst powdered watercolor.
The rest of the team has some fabulous inspiration for you- They are Ah-Mazing!

SugarPea Designs Challenge

Hi Everyone!
I am headed home from the Southwest, sad that the trip is coming to an end, but anxious to get back to crafting!

We have a great sketch AND beautiful inspiration for you this week~

I opted to use both the inspiration and the sketch for this challenge.  The card is elegant, but I kept it CAS.  The pink background stripe is watercolored with Peerless Watercolors.   The vine wreath, from the Funky Wreath- All Seasons Stamp Set is heat embossed with gold ep and fussy cut out.  Springs of greenery were also heat embossed in gold and die cut with the matching dies- SugarCuts Funky Wreath Spring.  My flowers, from the Funky Wreath Spring Addition Stamp Set,  were inked up with Distress inks; before stamping, I spritzed the stamp with water to give a faux watercolor look to the flowers.  The sentiment is from the Feeling Sentimental Stamp Set and is heat embossed in white; I am LOVING this trend.
Wow!  Can I just say that this design team is amazing??!!!  Check out their work~
