A SugarPea Designs Sketch!

Hi Everyone!

Well, we just finished with spring break here, and I am feeling refreshed.  We are in the home stretch for this school year!  I hope you are enjoying spring-like weather where you are.  :)

Today we have a very versatile and simple sketch, perfect for you CAS artists!  I lost my MOJO for this card so everything about it was laborious.  What should have been easy was tough, tough, tough.  Am I the only one this happens to?
Anyway, onto today's card and sketch~

And here is the sketch, which of course I had to flip and turn, etc etc!

So, I just got this adorable dragon from the Blow Me Away Stamp Set-I don't know what I was waiting for!  He is just the cutest!  I colored him up with Copics, anticipating linking up to a color challenge, but then I was stumped with papers, etc.  Ended up simplifying it a bit and sticking with basic, neutral colors, allowing the dragon to pop.  He is generously coated with Wink if Stella.  I hand dyed the ribbon with some SU poppy reinker.
And can I ever make a card without using the Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles?!  The answer is a resounding NO!  LOL!  And, of course I used the Stitched Flags for the black banner.

This is the last sketch for the month of March- remember, the more you play, the more chances you have to win a gift certificate to the SugarPea Designs Store!  You can win up to $75!  See the blog HERE for all of the details and rules.

Going Masculine with SugarPea Designs

Hi Friends!
Wednesday has rolled around again and that means it is time for another SugarPea Designs SugarSketch!  This week I went masculine with my card, which would work for a Father's Day card or a hubby's birthday card.

Masculine cards are HARD!  Do you find yourself wanting to keep adding things, like ribbon or sequins, LOL!
Here is the new sketch~

As you can see, I turned the sketch.  :)
I used the Wanderlust Stamp Set- this was my first SPD set- I love it!   Stamped and colored the compass rose in neutral colors and replaced the banner in the top right corner with a partial stamped airplane.  I tucked a bit of cheese cloth behind the compass rose and grounded it to a banner, cut with the Stitched Flag dies.  The large banner (map print dp) is also cut with the Stitched Flag dies.  I had a piece of watercolored paper that had not made it to a card- it was die cut out with the Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles die- lying on my desk and it created the perfect backdrop for my flags and compass rose.  Lastly, the sentiment was stamped; it is from the Lost Without You Stamp Set.

You can check out all of the amazing inspiration from the rest of the design team; such a talented bunch!

Happy Easter Peep!

Happy Saturday All!

And a Happy start to Spring Break for me!  Hope you are getting some R and R where you are!  If you are looking for the Spring Coffee Lovers Hop, click HERE.
I needed an Easter card for my mom and dad; I had yet to ink up this retired, but new to me MFT stamp.  It was perfect for this week's Freshly Made Sketches Challenge~

The sketch~

Somehow I missed that there was an additional panel on this sketch (sigh) but, as I really wanted to show off my new, gorgeous Lawn Fawn plaid paper, I am OK with it just as is.

The colors are from The The Challenge, which can be found on Lesley Croghan's blog, Always Playing with Paper~

I kept things very simple, cutting the plaid base with a SugarPea Designs Zig Zag Stitched Rectangle Die for a great finished look.  I colored the image with Copics and used the outside the box technique on the image panel then backed it with a SU doily. Some fine Martha Stewart glitter on the bunny/peep gives it that wonderful sugary look.  Some baker's twine and SSS sequins finish off the card.

I am also linking up to this week's Inkspirational Challenge- 'Just Add E' -E is for Easter, in this case.

And, I am linking up to the challenge at  MarkerPOP- 'Easter'.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a blessed weekend!

Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Hello and Welcome to the Spring 2016 Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

The Coffee Lovers Hops were started by the amazingly talented and dedicated Amy Tsuruta.  Amy has started a blog dedicated to coffee lovers and all crafty products coffee and tea related.  Coffee Lovers Hops occur quarterly.
The spring hop will go through March 25th.  There are lots of prizes up for grabs, for both commenters and bloggers.  Anyone can join in the fun by linking up their card to the blog hop, using the linky found HERE on the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog.

Spring means rain, and along with that, rainbows.  I did a row of rainbow colored coffee cups from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps.  They are colored with Peerless Watercolors and fussy cut out.
The sentiment is another fun one from Latina Crafter.  I really cannot get enough of the white on black embossing.
I added a panel with a decorative edge to my card base using a SugarPea Designs Zig Zag Rectangle SugarCuts die.  I looped gold thread beneath my coffee cup panel and added a few sss sequins to finish off the card.
I used the sketch from CASe This Sketch~

Thanks so much and enjoy the hop!

SugarPea Sketch Time!

Hello and Happy Wednesday to you!

Spring has sprung here in Missouri; hope you are experiencing good weather in your neck of the woods!  Spring means summer is just around the corner and THAT means vacation!  I have two planned and am itching to go!  I love the free time in summer and the time to catch up on crafty endeavors.
In addition to that, my parents will come to visit; it will have been 3 years since they were here.  The older they get, the more I miss them.
Today's card will be heading there way~

Here is the new sketch~

As you can see, I turned the sketch.

This set is the absolute SWEETEST!!  I adore this little girl from the Twinkle Twinkle set.  I colored with Copics and paper pieced her pajama top.  the dp is retired SU.  I used the Zig Zag Stitched Rectangle dies (when don't I use them?!) for my dp panel and the SugarCuts Heart Journal Card dies for the heart die cut.
Head on over to the BLOG for the rest of the amazing DT inspiration~  You have all month to link up your creations, and remember, the more you play, the greater your chance to win!  See the BLOG for details and all of the rules.  There is a $75 gift certificate up for grabs!

This cute little girl cuddling her teddy bear is perfect for the Wednesday Simon Says Stamp Challenge-'Cute and Cuddly'.

Guesting with Color Throwdown

Hello Everyone!

I am honored to be guesting with the amazing design team at Color Throwdown this week.  And this week's colors were truly a 'challenge' for me!

I went right for the floral images for this combination, using my Altenew Vintage Roses~

I stamped my flowers and then the white card base needed something more, so I added white embossing paste and one lone leaf image.  I love the look of white on black sentiments and it is a wonderful way to turn a rather formal looking card into one that is more contemporary.  Simon Says Stamp sequins finished off the card with some sparkle!
Thanks so much for stopping by- check out the rest of the fabulous inspiration from the talented team aren't they good?!) HERE, and then join us this week!

Blessings!

Quick Card for MOJO Monday

Hi Everyone, and Happy Weekend!

Hope all is well with you and that you have been able to sneak some crafty time in!
I tackled my basement today- Ewwww!  What a mess!  I will unwind with a little crafting tonight.  I crafted last night as well, sneaking in a card for the MOJO Monday Sketch~

This card was quick and easy, taking advantage of patterned paper which I rarely do.  The image and sentiment are from Unity.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a blessed Sunday!

Birthday Greetings and a SugarSketch!

Hello Everyone!

We celebrated a birthday in my house this past weekend.  My son turned 24- goodness, where has the time gone???  If any of you out there have 20 somethings, you know all too well how hard they are to buy for, etc.  Even birthday cards are tough at this age.  One thing my son does love is peppers- all varieties of hot and spicy!  It only made sense to use this fun, fun, fun SugarPea Designs Let's Fiesta Stamp Set for his card.  Now, the gift on the other hand....Not so easy!

I started by coloring the Hombre with Copics. I should have kept things easy peasy, but instead, I decided to get all creative with the lighting, which was a coloring challenge.  THEN, after watching a couple of videos by Sandy Allnock, I decided it was time to branch out and try some new skin tones.  Up until this point I have had very limited skin tones, using E000, E00 and E11.  Yep, that;s it!  I learned on that combo and never strayed from it.  So I got adventurous here, using E11, E13, and who knows what else.  I think there is a B or BV in there for the skin tone shading.
The card base is single layer-masked the bottom off and sponged two shades of green, then sponged through a TH stencil with the darker shade of green.  Stamped some peppers on the top and colored with the same colors used on my Hombre.
I die cut the image panel with the Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles and added a sentiment banner cut with the  Sugar Cuts Stitched Flags.

Oops, almost forgot your Sketch~

As always, each time you play, you are entered to win up to a $75 GC to SugarPea Designs Store!  See the blog for details and to link up your creations!

Coffee and Crafting

Hi Everyone!
I hope your weekend was splendid!  We had some gorgeous weather, which I took advantage of and hiked 10 miles over the course of the weekend.  I also destressed with crafting, including practicing watercoloring, which continues to give me trouble.  I tried watercoloring layers on this card, which would traditionally be separate paper panels.

My sketch is from Viva la Verve~

Can you kind of sorta see the layers?  I used distress inks for the watercolored background; the Unity image- Always Today- is colored with Copics.  The sentiment is from Latina Crafter.
I was also inspired by the GORGEOUS colors from Stampin Celebration Challenge.

Color Throwdown and an NBUS

Happy Friday!  Woo Hoo!

I inked up a new, never been used Unity Stamp and decided I just love this image!

Colors are this week's Color Throwdown Challenge~

I am also adding her to Darnells NBUS Challenge #6~

The image was colored with Copics, sentiment is heat embossed in white, and the background uses the inlaid die technique with a Savvy Stamps Die, for added texture. Lots of glitz and shine on the hat and glove from my Wink if Stella clear pen and SU glitter glue.

I am also linking up to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, 'Touchy Feely', as well as Marker Pop's Anything Goes Challenge
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a blessed weekend!

Hola! Time for a New SugarSketch!

Hola, Friends!

I finally ordered this adorable SugarPea Designs Stamp Set, Let's Fiesta; it has been on my wishlist forever!  It is perfect to create a little scene, which I did with this week's sketch, our first for March~

Here is your sketch!

I started by die cutting my image panel, then sponged it with Distress inks and spattered it with water.  I scrap  cardstock, I stamped the cactus 4 different times and colored all the images with Copics and stamped the donkey and colored him as well.  All images were fussy cut out.  I assembled the image panel.
Layers were die cut using the fabby Zig Zag Stitched Rectangle Sugar Cuts Dies.  The card base layer was watercolored using Peerless Watercolors.  The banner was diecut with the new Stitched Flags Sugar Cuts Dies.
Finishing touches include Wink of Stella applied to the cacti, Moonbeam SSS sequins and flowers fussy cut out from the Basic Grey dp to add to the cacti.
I am linking up to Marker Pop's Challenge, Anything Goes.
