Today is an extra special day as it is the start of the Light It Up Blue for Autism Awareness Blog
Hop. This hop was lovingly put together by Tenia Nelson and Veronica Zalis.
We have so many fantastic sponsors that have shown their support for Autism Awareness and you can see the complete list here: http://lk2thestarz.blogspot.com/…/the-light-it-up-blue-for-…. If you would like a chance to win a prize from one of these fabulous companies leave a comment on this blog, and any of the other blogs participating in today's hop! Winners will be chosen at random and will be announced on Monday April 6.
This hop is near and dear to my heart as I have a son with Asperger's Syndrome, which, for those of you who do not know, is on the autism spectrum.
Now here is the card I created in honor of him for today's hop! ~
I used a sketch from Viva la Verve,
And Verve Stamps, Bloom and Grow and Learning to Sail. There are a couple of suns in the Learning to Sail set and I turned them into flowers by using the masking technique and drawing in stems and leaves. I colored my flowers with Copics.
The leaves are clear enbossed and die cut with the coordinating die. A bit of washi anchors the flowers, leaves and button.
The sentiment is one that speaks to me as it is one that is meant for every person, disabled or not. Working as a school nurse, I see so many kids with 'diagnoses', including many on the autism spectrum. Each and every one is made in God's image and perfect just as they are! They are gorgeous inside and out, and you are gorgeous inside and out!
"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made, your
works are wonderful..." Psalm 139:14
Enjoy the hop!

Hi, Lee Ann! I LOVE this fabulous card! The blue flowers are beautiful, and your layering is fabulous! I have family members that have Asperger's so I know that there may be even more challenges with this. Higher functioning makes them seem even stranger to those who don't understand. Here's to you and your journey--you are wonderful! HUGS! :) Mynn xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card!! I have an Aspy daughter and am amazed at the awesome gifts she has as an Aspy. Hugs and prayers for you as you guide your son into the future. We are in this together, my friend!
