Rest for the New Year

 Hello!

Well, we are almost to 2024.

Do you do New Year's Resolutions?  I guess I do, even though I do not call them that as it seems to set me up for failure.  For the coming year I hope to craft more, study the Bible more (starting with the book of Matthew), and eat healthier. Crafting more should not be a problem. ;)

Today's card is a mixed media project.  I reeeeallly love the SnSS Jumbled Hexies stencil.  I started with sponging 3 Distress Oxide inks on my cs.  I used so many different colors that I really don't know for sure what I used and where.

I kept the inks fairly light in color.  Next, I placed the Jumbled Hexies stencil, added translucent embossing paste and then sprinkled chunky gold embossing powder over the wet paste.  I heated the powder to melt it. While waiting for the paste to dry, I stamped the bird image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, which is from the SnSS Songbirds Stamp Set, and colored it with Copics.

The bird was fussy cut out.  When the embossing paste was dry, I sponged more distress oxide inks over the entire panel until I had the desired effect. Then I wiped the excess ink off of the embossed areas.  For depth, I splattered water onto the panel.  Lastly, I splattered the panel with white acrylic paint.  The sentiment, from the Be Still and Know stamp set, was stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink.

I am linking up to the following challenges!

Alphabet Challenge- T is for texture
Triple B Challenge, with my Bird and Blooms.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy New Year!

  2. You really have created a beautiful and stunning card. I love the combination of blue and green in the background, and the motif you used is so wonderful - the bird looks as if it was alive, and the blooming branch is a perfect match to the scenery. The splatters are a great touch to your project, and the uplifting sentiment sounds like a great motto for the upcoming year. Thanks for joining the Alphabet challenge.

    Hugs, Veronika
